I saw that shortly after he posted it. I was actually more disappointed with the reactions than I was in previous years. It was actually pretty sad to see so many people, even kids, bragging about stealing the packages. Their responses to the prank weren't all that great either. It's gotten to the point where these things are a known gag and the surprise really isn't there anymore.

I found it all depressing. I pictured thugs stealing these packages, but they all look like they could be my neighbors, appearing like responsable adults, with children, etc. It was really just sad.

Exactly. The kid telling his mom that it felt good was probably the worst of the bunch.

Love Mark Rober. He does a lot of great videos that really help encourage kids interested in STEM. He found a great way to mix the science with the fun and tell a good story to keep kids engaged.

            depressing.

with GPS, pictures, and video some arrests should be made.

Agree. How many other things have these people stolen?

Love this. But man, people are absolute scum. Especially when you see their kids involved, and a house full of tooons of stuff already.

I wonder if these thieves feel less shame/guilt about porch pirating since their victims don't have a face, akin to how bold keyboard warriors are these days. Shitty thing to do regardless, especially since you never know what you're actually stealing and it could be someone's medication or something. Dicks.

Maybe next time he should fill the box with angry hornets instead of glitter.

The problem is, Rober publicises it, and therefore can't do anything even remotely injurious- like a taser shock- let alone potentially lethal. (Chances are somebody allergic to beestings will grab it, die from the hornets, and the family will sue Rober for twenty million.)

I mean, sure, the same tech that can activate the glitter and coordinate the GPS, could easily fire a flashbang, a ring of spike-on-a-wire style police tasers, miniature flamethrowers, detonate actual rotten eggs, set off a whole string of firecrackers, or whatever.

But someone would get injured, the house could burn down, have an allergic reaction to the eggs, you name it, and then the lawsuits start flying. And Rober makes some big bucks off those videos and other merch, so he'd have some deep pockets to go for.

So yeah, he's gotta be real cautious.

                        Doc.

Hmmm. The movie "Star Chamber" comes to mind. Or rewards/bounties issued for arrests. I know that it doesnt make economic sense to spend $100 to apprehend a thief of $10, but without repercussions, there is literally nothing stopping this.

Posting video of the thieves doesnt seem to detract from it either.
