Would it be easier to get a Warp Feed or Qloader working smoothly with modern paint?

I have a nice condition warp feed and a so-so condition Qloader. The warp feed probably needs some refreshing and I hear the Warp Feeds might need some tinkering to reliably feed modern smaller paint. I’m not sure what all needs to be done or can be done to a Qloader to “tune it up”.

I want to keep one and sell the other…

which would be easier to get working reliably?

I’m startling to leaning towards keeping the Qloader simply because of the speed; feed an RT/X valve mag extra high pressure form an SHP or Flatline and watch the 30+ BPS gods sing - LOL.

id go Q and shorten the distance and minimize any turns and eliminate anything harder than a 45 degree corner.

      Did you mean 135°?

Elbows are 90° and I can’t imagine any sort of elbow turning harder than that… let alone harder than 45°.

Or are you saying don’t route a flex feed hose tighter than 45°?

I imagine, on a mag, the ideal “tight” configuration would be an under barrel configuration with with a power feed body - then feed into the bottom of the power feed tube using two 90° elbows and a short length of relatively straight feed hose.

And I’d imagine the configuration to show off max BPS would be just mounting the qloader pod directly on top into a vert feed body… like a regular hopper.

dependant on the elbow it may have a hard time navigating around the corner. the more fluid the path the faster it can load Length also plays a factor in it as well.

I run a warp mag with paint as small as .670. If you have a powered hopper feeding it there are no issues. Even a primo works pretty good. Every now and then it misses moving a ball but that's pretty rare. It's less likely to do it if your using sound to activate the warp since it spins more on its own. I use an intelli frame so it's one trigger pull to one feed movement. Worse case scenario you gave to hit the feed button on the side of the warp to get the balls moving.

always had better luck with with my warp feeds than my Q loader. the "whole ball" issue with Q loader will have you pulling your fucking hair out. once you get it right with one paintball, you switch, or the humidity switches and your back to breaking all the time.

I've done both, and I made a serious push for the Qloader, first on my Flatlined 98 Custom, and then later on my Ion. Here's a video of it working on an earlier revision of my Ion (Qloader/SpecopsPB 90deg adapters):

That was a test to see that configuration would work.

As you can see, It worked great at home, that Friday (February) night. The next day at the field, with the exact same case of paint (Marballizer) kept sealed in bags, the setup was an absolute failure, without a single pod completing without a breach break.

This led me to make another attempt at the optimizing the feed path which you see here (Qloader 90deg socket connected to Pro Team Products Warp Feed, with a custom feedneck that allowed for perfect fitment of balls in the vertical portion of the stack):

          It didn't make a difference.

The problem with the Qloader, is that it applies pressure to every ball between the pod and the breach, whenever the it is engaged. Paintballs being squishy, they will deform over time with humidity and heat increasing the speed and extent of deformation. You might be able to get it to work. Levi has a thread on the subject. What's missing is actual gameplay footage of it working- which I would need before I ever re-attempted or recommended it to someone else.

The only setup I ever got it working on at least well-enough to be a backup gun. Was a direct mount to the feedneck of an SP-1. This allowed me to turn the pre-winds down enough that it would feed properly. This defeated the purpose though as the pod was right back on the top which was the reason I switched to the Qloader. I suspect that the Qloader gun based ont eh Tippmann A-5, with a direct, undermount feed probably worked well enough.

For an uncapped speedball game, where you're ripping pods as fast as possible, I think you're more likely to have success. That was never my interest though so, I immediately pivoted to the Warp Feed (build finished a few weeks later), and it simply worked (using the intellifeed port):

Here's a pic of me in a local woodsball tourney with it (a couple weeks later):

What about rerouting a halo or similar? Automag guys have been doing it for awhile.

This is one of the ones i did.

what kind of max ROF can this get you? A halo sitting on top can push 30bps.

I haven't used this particular one.

But others I have used were plenty fast enough. What that equates to I really cant tell you.

I'm probably the biggest Qloader fanboy, and have used them with much success... however I've encountered many failures as well. I never liked the bulk of the Warp feeds and consequently never set one up. So I cannot offer you a comparison between the two. However, if you really like the form factor of the Qloader, there's nothing else like it. That Automag I have set up works pretty well and it's a super tight compact package that feels amazing to me. The ability to feed in any orientation is also fun and opens up some interesting options on the field.

For most folks, the advantages are trumped by the fact that they can be an absolutely maddening pain in the ass. Why one setup works and another doesn't can be really hard to diagnose. uv_halo 's Ion was similar in configuration to the Automag that I've had good success with. When I was actively working on my Qloader setups, I read his posts thoroughly... but it's been quite a while so I could be mis-remembering. His Ion worked well in testing at home, but let him down in actual gameplay. I've had similar experiences with a setup that put the Qloader directly onto the breech of a warp left Mag. Very short ball stack, I even cut the neck of the socket down to get it one ball closer than was otherwise possible. For me this worked great in the back yard, but was a complete paint blender on the field. Why the short stack setup worked for Uv_Halo but not for me is a mystery, as much as our different experiences with the long stack setup. While it is true, I've never posted video of it working... I just don't post videos period. There are however, several here who've witnessed me play the entire 3 day Supergame with it.

Unless you are really into the form factor of the Qloader I would second cougar20th in his recommendation for a Warpless Halo, or a Warpless Rotor. As much as I like the Qloader, I've been tinkering with making a Warpless Rotor as a more reliable alternative. Someone over on AO did a pretty good writeup on how to do it. You can swap a couple of parts in the drive cup assembly with the Box Rotor version to make it feed up instead of down. Then it's a matter of fabricating a tube to feed the balls up and to your gun. Here's my over-engineered, but not yet complete attempt with a Rotor.

I need to know more. I tried many years ago to reroute a Rotor using he box rotor parts. I couldn't get them to work. Although yours looks 100% better. Still have the parts sitting in a drawer somewhere.

Luckily I was going more or less straight up then turning so my hole in the shell is under the beauty cover. So Ive been using the rotors on everything else.

To clarify, my Rotor build isn't what I would consider to be proven yet. it's still a work in progress.

When I posted it the other day I was under the impression that several others have gotten these working. Now that I'm going back and looking for the threads that inspired me to start this... what I'm finding is less conclusive than I remember. The thread I'm remembering from AO seems to now be missing all the pictures.

Unless there's a definitive how-to for these... perhaps I should start a thread and get tinkering with this again?
