Oh, I don’t doubt that there are people who pay those prices. That’s the impetus for this thread. And I also understand that game gear and fashion are personal preference, so to each their own. I personally don’t care for bandanas, but I can appreciate that others do. That said, I think finding $600 of value in a paintball bandana will forever escape me and if that makes me the weird one, then I’m happy to wear that badge.

There's been a secondary market for Sandana product for 2 decades. Kids want to rock cool old out of production paintball gear.

Your argument that all collectors of all collectables are the same is invalid and also tired. It is a fallacy to believe that there is no such thing as a stupid scene...they exist, and the world of $500 paintball headbands is one of them. This ain't Issey Miyake, kid. Its not even nudie barrel cover. Its a bag of magic beans. Whatever house of cards the value of these things is built on it won't last as long as the brass and aluminum bits you're talking about...mostly because fabric itself doesn't really last very long...but also because it actually costs hundreds of dollars to make a cocker and in the headband world someone is simply getting PAID. I mean...you can get a really nice pair of socks for $80. So nice that's hard to imagine how to spend a larger budget unless its all all going to a top tier designer and I don't mean "Sandana". $500 for a headband is Kanye before he went crazy designer money.

My mother is almost 80 years old and suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. She can still work her sewing machine and can make a bandana. She can’t make a marker.

As I’m typing this, I’m thinking… maybe I encourage her to make some cool bandanas and market them as Nana’s Bandanas! It would give her some focus and some purpose and selling them could help raise awareness for the disease that has ravaged her brain.

The first ever stock certificates are worth insane amounts of money and that's just ink on paper and a company that no longer exists. There literally is no foundation for their value yet if you had one you would have a pretty secure retirement plan as long as you could keep it physically safe.

That said, I do agree that headbands in particular are pretty ridiculous to be bought and sold for the amounts people try to get from them. Outside of a historical piece like the stock certificate I mentioned, a production item that's simply out of production that is attempting to be sold for amounts that approach it's weight value in a precious metal (silver maybe?) is just insane.

People definitely pay those prices, some as collectors and others just to show off. Same as people buying nice cars or clothes. I prefer to let my autocockers be my flashy item and I try to color match my gear for cheap with used stuff.

Some people pay like $500+ for old JT masks which is outlandish to me but hey, everyone has their thing or collection 🤷♂️ I own a couple outlandishy expensive cockers, that's my thing 🥰😍😍🥰
