    workshop movies

I know from general consensus that its not at all uncommon to have movies, shows, music or some other sort of media cast in our shops. I would like to know if there's a common theme to what you put on or even as a group, any particular favorites as well. Personally I like having reruns of something familiar on so im not missing out on anything. if im drawing/designing I like to have some sort of story or biography playing.

You mean like having a TV showing a video of some kind? I personally couldn't do that, as it's too distracting. It'd have to be something mindless like the news, and in that case, I'd want to put a bullet in it.

I almost always have music playing, a collection of MP3s on a portable player, since I hate broadcast radio. Like "I want to dynamite the transmitter" hate. I tried listening to podcasts a while back, but I found those distracting as well.

When I'm sitting at my desk drawing the comic in the evenings, though, I listen to a LOT of podcasts, YouTube videos (mostly movie reviewers these days) a few audiobooks, or TV shows I've already seen so I don't have to actually watch.

your on it. its not about movies or the news more of what you play. I used to have a PSP just piping the audio of something so there wasnt anything to watch, typically in my shop I have headphones or earbuds in.

I'm with Doc, music from my collection. What I play is mode and project-dependent. Typically, when I'm in the shop, I shuffle Classic Rock, Southern Rock, and Country. If I am working on something small and detailed, my Swing and Big Band music comes out. If I am working on stuff on the driveway outside the shop, like lawn gear, vehicles, etc., then there's a good chance of hard rock and metal. I have a mount for a Monitor I have in the house that I have never mounted and looks like I most likely never will.

I could leave the office, parks and rec, corner gas, or seinfeld playing as background noise with no issues. Just noise with an occasional joke that I hear.

Futurama or king of the hill are my go-to background videos if I'm just puttering around. If I'm actually working I put on metal (always metal) or a podcast, or I forget to put on anything and work in silence, and then I remember nothing is playing and forget to play something again before I start the next step.

Repetative tasks = Earbuds in, podcasts or interview style youtube videos (think shelda) or podcast style dnd campaigns.
Focus = Speakers on, music that is highly mood dependent. Most commonly metal, or power metal, less commonly symphony rock/metal stuff, edm, rock, crap, etc.
If i need to think/reflect, none of these things, absolute silence.

I have a tv in the new shop. Previously I used to put on music of some variety mostly Rock, metal or something hard and heavy. Now I actually think I put on something I don't necessarily need to watch on the TV so I kind of lean towards comedy or a documentary that is very wordy.
