I'd never had much of an issue with ticks in Ohio. I spent some time working in Minnesota and I was pulling them off me almost daily.

I’ve never had tick issues either. Many years back I did get a call from a guy who had a moose on his property that was covered in ticks, conservation officers couldn’t attend so they call the police. He took me to where the moose was laying down and this big beast wasn’t covered in them it was being sucked? Eaten Alive? I’ve never forgot it, I put it out its misery

My ex used to make a game of searching for ticks (and counting welts) whenever I came home from a day of play.
Never found a tick after playing, although I've dealt with them in other situations.
One time, after a day of lake swimming, getting home I had to pee. Something didn't feel right. I've never jumped as high in my life.
Of course, I am not calling for help. Yanked the little bloodsucker and threw it in the toilet. Then pissed on it before flushing.

Rhode Island USA here, they are AWFUL this year. I took my dog hiking in a short brush field, no high grasses or anything and I pulled 7 off me and 15 off my dog. Once the weather warms up I’m gonna make my pup go into the ocean up to her neck after every hike just in case
