20 1/2 pages of bot spamming today

It really is internet graffiti with a bit of trespass mixed in with it. It's the bottom of the barrel of technology.

Mods, sorry you've got to deal with this today.

This. This is a prime example of why the PM restrictions were put in place.

We were having dozens of members telling us about spam PMs and then had to find the usernames and take care of them. At least these are out in the open so they can be dealt with quickly.

Unfortunately still seems to be going on but at least the mods have handled the bulk of it. Collecting these numbers for a rainy day to call when I'm bored...

The last/newest bot/spam account signed up using the screen name of "Nel-Spot 007" to "Help you restore your ATT email account". 🙄

I'm guessing nobody really knows why they do it? MCB seems like one of the least lucrative places to spam stuff for MMOs or whatever they spammed this time

Money and/or information are/is the answer(s). Was that a rhetorical question? lol...I'll go back to the corner now.

My best guess is they assume people still using forums already likely older and less likely to spot a scam and little security.

Low barrier for entry to post.

It's a numbers game. There is such little cost, effort, and actual work involved in spamming like this. If nothing comes of it then there is a little loss on the spammers end. But if somebody clicks then hey, make it a win.

Gain, with the absolute minimum amount of work.

I wondered how many pages were spam. I stopped at 10 pages before I lost curiosity.
