Ford Maverick hybrid = great MPG

The city has some of these and I drive one each day doing inspections. 1/4 of a full tank in and there is still 500 miles to E.

Inspections happen all over the county, not just in the city. The miles driven are a combination of city and highway.

The mpg meter maxes out at 99.9mpg which is unfortunate. Cruising through neighborhoods at 15mph keeps the meter at 99.9mpg.

Thats awesome. These gas prices have me contemplating a hybrid... The new prius' actually look decent. Have never been a ford fan, but maybe this is an option.

The new prius is /really/ good. Drives really well, great acoustics and ergonomics.

That's awesome mileage. And somehow people will still run the thing out of gas and get stuck at an intersection.

Any thoughts on them in general, as a daily driver have you noticed anything that is a make or break? Any issues you've seen arise? I've always loved the Maverick since I seen it's release and have always wanted one.

Owner's manual states 13.8 US gallons, however I've put more than that in when I ran it to single digits to E once.

There is talk online that true capacity is closer to 16.5 US gallons due to the reserve capacity in the tank and filler neck.

Everyone that I have talked to whom owns one loves them. Everyone. 100%.

I like the one I drive. I'm nearly 7' tall so my chief complaint is the angle of the driver's seat at its lowest position. The front of the seat is higher than the rear where your butt goes. I would like the seat to be flat front to back. The angle is quick to cause soreness in the lower back. The front part presses into the hamstrings as well causing discomfort/mild soreness by day's end. The angle is flatter the higher the seat is raised. Plenty of headroom at the lowest setting for me, though I did remove the visor so I wouldn't have to duck in order to see.

14,144.6 miles on this one and zero mechanical issues yet. City maintains these well with regular oil changes, maintenance, and washes.

This thread is useless without actually mpg numbers.
Remember back in the 2000s when it was in Voguers for manufacturers like Nissan to sell cars by saying they could get 600 miles to tank with out actually mentioning the mpg. That because your silly little altima has a 22 gallon full tank, not because it gets 100mpg.

Not totally useless info here. I've filled this thing a good number of times, usually doing so when the fuel gauge has just gotten into the red. 12.x US gallons is common though I've filled with 14.x before when deep in the red.

Man... I've been really tempted to get one of these for a grocery getter/family vehicle.

What does the highway MPG look like at 70+mph down the highway?

Highway speeds is where I see a dip in mpg. This gets around 35 on average. I rarely drive it at 70mph though.

Since going from a sporty turbo to a dad car I have slowed my highway speeds significantly. A side effect is that my average mpgs have gone up by a crazy amount. I really notice the dip when I drive above 70

Thought all of these were full electric. Didn't realize they had a hybrid option. Good to know

edit: hybrid or 4cyl. There's an NA 2.5, hybrid + 2.5, 2.0 ecoboost turbo. I think the current gen/facelift that came out last year now offers AWD and 4k towing on all the trim levels instead of just the ecoboost.

They're based on the escape/bronco sport and share a lot with the (rip) focus's front end

Curious what you actually get when you do the math at the Odometer. Those mpg gages are notoriously inaccurate.

me and my wife just took her hybrid honda accord to cañon city from St louis.
I think we used maybe 40 gallons of gas to do it. Increddible.

I have fusion hybrind and it's not that good, but it's about 38 mpg at 70 mph.

                  I’m getting 48mpg @80 if I actually do 65mph I can get 50mpg with my deleted Q5 TDI

Diesel is more expensive especially now but it puts out about 500ft/tq on the race tune. I usually run it in sport so I don’t mess up the axles and transmission.

I’ve had my Maverick Hybrid for 3 years and have 65,000 miles on it. I absolutely love it.

My daily commute is 40 miles each way, about 75% highway and 25% back roads. I’m usually going 75-80 on the highway. In the summer I average 42-45 mpg. I did put slightly more aggressive and heavier tires on when I needed new tires and that dropped the mpg by 1-2 mpg. Winter it dips to around 35-37 mpg depending on how much I need to use the heat.

The best I ever did was 52 mpg on a tank. That was over 700 miles on the 13.5 gallon tank. I drove all back roads in eco mode and was really paying attention to the meter and optimizing my driving. It took about 10 more minutes per trip to work.

I do wish that mine was AWD like the newer hybrids and could do the 4k towing. Mine is FWD and 2k towing. I don’t have any issues in the snow with fwd. There were trips this past winter where I was going through 6” of snow. I routinely drive through a wet and muddy field and haven’t gotten stuck.

I’ve loaded mine with wood, mulch, bricks and stone, heaps of bee equipment. I’ve pushed the 2k capacity with no issues and didn’t notice the truck being sluggish.

Good review. It's appreciated. I've not had the one I drive in eco mode but I'll try for 52mpg!
