    Old guy coming back

Hi folks! I’m in my 40s, so I grew up in the prime magazine era. I played a bunch back in the day, got a used, beat up autococker, then just kinda fell away a bit. Sold my stuff for guitar gear, etc.

But now I’m back, and I’m itching for an automag like I used to see in the magazines back when!

Thanks for having me. I’ll keep everyone updated on my impending knee injuries and subsequent surgeries!

Welcome back. I know the Automag was the beast back in the day (and still is a great piece of gear), but if you want something super simple to own might I suggest the Emek platform? If you want to splurge, you may indulge in an Inception Design body kit. They remind me somewhat of the very nice custom Automags you'd see back in the day.
"Aren't you getting too old for this??"
        "Nope."

            Welcome back!
Fellow 40s returned player. As others have said, Knee pads (with knee support sleeves built in) and elbow pads as needed. My recommendation after trying 4 different sets last year; i have settled on Hydra Black Knee pads as the best (for compression, stay put-ness, and cushioning), and CRBN elbow pads. Slide pants with pads in them are also pretty good but lack the knee sleeve support which i have found really helpful to alleviate knee soreness the day after.

Please come back and tell us how your first day back playing goes!
Also, don't overdo it the first day back... If you used to play front/aggressive, try to take it easy otherwise everything might hurt real bad tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up, fellow fourties friend!

I’ve got some decent knee sleeves from a few decades in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but those hydra look pretty sweet. Amen on the stretching. I had a leisurely catch with my buddies 8y/o kid yesterday without stretching, and I feel it in my shoulders today😳.

Welcome back! PSA, watch your wallet around here and Naproxen is your friend. An Automag won’t let you down, be sure to spend good money on a mask.

They are amazing I got the Fox Launch got almost a full season on them and they have held up really nicely and fit amazing. Plus by design they keep the ticks off your legs.

I’ll be up on sunny Long Island, NY. And yes, knee pads are already in the bag, haha.

Keep an eye on the north east section for games. You are in a great spot for some really good paintball, we have one of the best groups. When you get a chance check out the calendar for 2026.

Look here you young whippersnapper, the political correct term is experience or vintage. Which is well liked around them here parts.

                Welcome back.

Wish you the very best on the knees. Hit me up if you looking for mag parts. I will try and help with your addiction.
