Some sick mofo out there bought me a membership to this club about 20 years ago. I've have 5 since. Last one was on the final battle of Michigan Monster Game, last year. Even though I'm a champ at them now, the pain doesn't ever get better. You just learn how to cope with them. Good thing I had a hella good partner to drive back to Milwaukee or I wouldn't have made it on my own.

I’ve had 3 or 4 but it was nothing like what I’ve always heard. The first time i was just fairly sick but not excruciating. I fell asleep on the way to the doctor & when i woke up i felt 100%. Doctor said i probably had a small one that just passed. The second time i was extremely sick. I couldn’t keep anything down for a few days. The pain wasn’t really severe. Just a constant pinching sensation on my right kidney. They did test after test & the only thing off was a little blood in my urine. That one passed without me realizing it too. The next time, i didn’t even really feel bad. I was at work & when i went to use the bathroom, there it was. I didn’t even really feel it but i heard it hit the bottom of the bowl. My brother had them once & he said he thought he was dying.

IDK if you are the beer drinking and have to pee a lot type, but something along that line or loads or water, etc. helps a lot. Walk and stay upright as much as possible, it helps too.

never kidney but i had some pretty large gal stones.
emergency surgery at 4am. i think i was 25 at the time.
i drank allot and always thought it was a bad mix of things and thats why i was having so much pain. Turns out ive had gal stones for awhile that just got bigger and bigger. Dr made a comment about them being allot larger than normal for someone my age and couldnt understand why i didnt come to the hospital sooner. (maybe they say that to everyone to make them feel better; idk) One afternoon my mother made the greasy-ist, nasty-ist, chicken breast. baked breast with skin on and bone in. coated with butter and a greased baking dish. Thats what almost killed me. She heard a noise and found me on the tile kitchen floor at 3am. went to the hospital, ultrasound, and surgery before the sun came up.
all you with gal stones or who've had them knows what the fat and oils do.
just know, as bad as it is someone had it worse and still came out on the other side. you got this.

2 kidney stones. My dad had them chronically when I was a kid, from about age 9 to 19. Fortunately I don't.
My first onset at work. My second woke me up in the middle of the night the day after we got to tennessee.
Both were preceded by flank / kidney pain and lots of peeing, which I had felt on previous occasions. Don't know if that means I have had them before.
Glad you are feeling better.

My wife, we're pretty sure, had gal stones for at least the past few years. She would have attacks of debilitating pain that would see her bedridden for a day or two. These started happening in mid 2018. She even had an attack the night before our wedding, she left the wedding rehearsal and didn't attend the rehearsal dinner due to going home to bed. She was thankfully fine the next day and we got married and went on our honeymoon a few weeks later with no issues while overseas. Late last year she had another attack that was worse than anything she'd ever had. She spoke to my FIL who is a retired GP and he agreed to take her to the hospital so I drove her to his house and he made some calls to on the on call surgeons and such and they ran tests and she had her gallbladder removed that same night.
Now for reference, the gallbladder is supposed to be the size of your thumb normally. Hers when removed was the size of a grapefruit AND she had pancreatitus that the surgeon said at that point was life threatening. All I can say is I'm glad she didn't ignore the pain this last time around. Kidney or Gall stones are nothing to mess around with. She was in hospital for 2 weeks and recovering at home for a month after. I hope I never get them,My feedback +38/-0 on old MCB

Some years back the wife got hit by an 18 wheeler and did some pretty significant internal bruising and such. She kept having discomfort and the doctor (going down a list) suggested removal of the gall bladder. The suggestion was seconded by her primary, so she tried. Didn't help a darned thing....but they sure don't make it obvious what taking that and eating greasy foods does to you. Never the same since.
