Here's a tidbit I remember hearing/reading somewhere but haven't been able to find anywhere since:
Arnold Schwarzenegger was invited to the first paintball game (but obviously didn't attend).
It's not far fetched when you realize that Charles Gaines; one of the progenitors of the argument behind The Survival Game; was also the author of Pumping Iron. Gaines and Noel (the bickering parties) invited people who were at the top of their field to test whether the practical skills of people in outdoors related professions or high stakes decision making skills/determination (in urbanite professionals) were more important for survival. Not a very scientific testing method! Schwarzenegger obviously fit into the latter category as a former Mr. Olympia.
Something else I heard/read but can't find any other record of is that the first woman to play paintball was the former First Lady of Alabama.Comment
