    I love Virginia (cannabis related)

Recently attended the "Staunton Growers Cup" awards. As the title suggests, these weren't fruits or vegetables.
I didn't know about it until Fri night. My Niece says her husband is going to an event the next day and thought I might want to go with. She doesn't say what kind of event.
I was skeptical at first, then looked it up online and it was "Oh, Yeeahh!" like Rocket Racoon. My niece even bought my ticket online as a birthday gift.

It was interesting. A smaller crowd than I expected, maybe 100-120 attending at the most crowded. Also, a higher age demographic, lots of grey hair like mine.
The only disturbance was a young lady who had a bit too much and passed out. Right as they were going to announce the top three winners. Everything came to halt while deciding whether to take her out to fresh air or not move her until medic showed up. But law enforcement was less than three minutes out (the Police Station is a half-block away) and EMS less than 10 minutes. Wasn't surprising she went down, the atmosphere was like Willie Nelson's dressing room after a concert. I swear, if they vented that room half of downtown would've been stoned.
Do you know the stereotype of people standing around with cameras during some calamity? Not a single one that I could see and I looked.
Several folks were taking video of the stage and the actual awards after things resumed. And funny enough, for a "Growers Cup" only Second & Third place received cups. First place took home a belt that might have felt at home on some Texan, but looked like it was designed by the WWE fifteen years ago and $1,000 cash prize.

There were 38 competitors, samples everywhere, full cash bar & food, near every person had a pipe or something going. Even vendors tables with paraphernalia from local stores. When they announced the time "4:20" the air got noticeably thicker.
It was labelled BYOB, meaning bring your own bud, but plenty of sharing was going on. "Here, try this!". Buying or selling would get you removed, but information about folks who do and making connections was perfectly fine.
I even won some swag in the raffle.

I did notice that there were two categories, indoor & outdoor. None were listed as outdoor, however there were some that left that category blank.
So I assumed that these were dedicated growers, not just picking weeds from the back yard like I do.
The music was good, if a bit loud for the room size making conversation difficult. Lots of reggae. I was kinda hoping to hear some older stuff related to the experience.

But an afternoon of fun, meeting new people, sharing between people you've never met. (race, religion & politics were left outside)
I even met some guy that lives a few miles from me here in Deerfield. Ya never know.

I do know I'm gonna keep track of this, hoping to attend more events like this.

Did they play Sweet Leaf? .

That's funny about the demographics of the crowd. Figured it would be a bunch of wooks looking for handouts! XD

Imagine being able to smoke so much weed that you pass out…it’s been a *long* time.

I live in Ann Arbor and I’m not so young either so all this stuff seems really corny but I’m glad it was a good time. Weed is great.

Eh, I’ve become a daily user. I’ve been using a silicone pipe but I want to switch to glass and also a bong.
Such a good thing. Oh Canada 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

This occurred in my town and I had no idea about it. Funny because you really wouldn't expect it here, at least I wouldn't. I used to be a bear daily enjoyer but now it's been zero for a while since becoming a father, but always a stoner at heart.

I only smoke before I go to bed or when I'm hanging out with friends/concerts. I will do a little between games at the field. Just one hitter's from my dugout bat is all I need. The weed stores stuff is just so strong. I like to be functional. Bong hits are for when I want to listen to music on my headphones in the dark and see the devils d***! For the people who miss the old weed where you could smoke a joint and be functional. Try the non delta 9 stuff from the smoke shops. Very light buzz. .

There was something there that was on the vendors table similar. Only this one ran on 2 tubes of water, as the water went from one tube down to the other, the smoke was pulled in by the resulting vacuum. Then you flipped the tubes and started the process over, this time as the water on top pulled in the smoke the water entering the bottom pushed out the smoke that had been drawn in.

Gravity bong. I made one in highschool with a Home Depot bucket full of water and a big two liter bottle with a hole in the bottom. Bowl was a old impact socket. Pull it up while torching to fill the bottle. Remove the socket. Push it down to force smoke out the top while inhaling. Balled up high school gym shirt to use as a sploof. .
