    If you had one wish.

A couple of my buddies and their lady friends came over for a game night and some grub. We are all in our mid to late 40's and were playing a murder mystery game and enjoying a massive platter of chick-fil-a nuggets. One of the ladies was having a hard time trying to decipher a code and she said that if she had one wish, it would be able to instantly decipher texts. No matter what kind. This started all of us talking about if we had a wish...yada yada yada. One of the best ones was from one of my closest friends. He said that if he had one wish, it would be able to see the future. I thought that was a really good one. Out of the back of the room my oldest son said that all of the wishes we had discussed were garbage and that the best wish would be to win any bet that he made. I thought about it and indeed. I think thats the answer for best wish. A few examples he mentioned.

I bet I win the lottery tonight. I bet that I live to be 300 years old but have the body of a 20 year old. Pretty much the only caveat is that you have to have someone to take your bets. I bet the Yankees win the Superbowl. I bet California falls into the ocean. I bet that paintball becomes mainstream. You know, basically any unlikely thing would do for the basis of a good bet.

Anywhoo. Just rambling bored on vacation from work with no paintball to play, good movies to watch, or motorcycles to work on. I tell you what, ADHD brain and boredom are mortal enemies.

All very interesting things to think about, personally I think shapeshifting would be cool because animals already cover many bases like flight, speed, and other stuff. Or you could turn into a rubix cube mid argument and leave someone speechless.

Could be a horror story in a lot of these wishes. You can see the future… but now you’re driven to madness by something inevitable that you can’t change!

But with that being said and all chances of ironic curses being put aside: being able to speak any language would be pretty darn nifty.

Or the ability to look into the past anywhere in the world would be downright fascinating. You could find the answers to mysteries lost to time like the location of Alexander the Great’s tomb, watch Renaissance artists creating masterpieces, or witness monumental historical events, all with your own eyes.

But more frivolously some good ole fashioned Superman style flight ability would be great. I’d imagine it would be quite fun, and it would save a ton on fuel! Just don’t forget some goggles…

        If I had one wish:

It would be for humanity to develop a deep, lasting curiosity about the universe one that drives us to explore, understand, and preserve it, without getting sidetracked by petty conflicts or short-term thinking.

Or more on a personal thought.

I wish for complete and permanent satisfaction with my life, exactly as it unfolds, while retaining my full capacity for curiosity, growth, love, joy, and meaningful contribution to the world.

I feel like the Win any bet wish is like a more sophisticated version of King Midas’s golden touch. While technically you get what you asked for, it poisons everything it touches.

Clever in theory… catastrophic in practice.

Reminds me of the guy that had a slight speech impediment and wound up with a foot-tall pianist...
