Man - I want to like Budweiser so much - visited the factory in St Luis - incredible tour - met a Clydesdale, drank it as fresh off the line as can be, have one with my dad every time i see him - its been his beer since forever, and while I'm never going to complain if someone hands me one, I'm also not going to be like "boy, I really want a six pack of bud" when I'm standing in front of the beer fridge at the store. given a choice an ice cold Modelo for me.
I also find it interesting that, aside from my Dad, I have never met a single person that was a bud guy - I've also never been to a party and opened the ice chest and saw a bunch of Budweisers in it. it always struck me as odd that it dominated the market for so long even if in later years it was bud light that carried the torch. amazing that they are still a hallmark of the superbowl adds considering they recently shuttered their Fairfield factory.
Yeah, I feel you on this one... It was pure Americana growing up... But seriously it does not get much crappier than a Budwiper...
Well that is except a BudwiperLight
HaHa Oh I can think of a long list well below the Budweiser threshold!
Busch and Busch light (made by Budweiser)
Hamms
PBR (I so badly want to like this one as well)
Coors light
Michelob and M light
Oddly enough - in that class of American beers I'd have to put myself down as a Coors Banquet guy.
I completely understand what you are saying...but I feel Bud is so bad to my flavor profile that the others you mentioned would be close in line... which would fit well into 'does not get much crappier' for me.
I really do not understand people and PBR... jeebus that is some serious crap...again you want to like it because of all the brewhaha attached to it...but damn that beer sucks ass...
'American Pilsner' will always be my favorite at a MicroBrewery... and I do love me an ice cold Modelo...
With all that said I have not drank beer in a few years... As I get older drinking beer or anything just does not feel as good as it once did..Not even just one... I always feel like not the best afterwards and the buzz is just not worth it...
Now I just take a bongrip and have some tasty sparking juice to wash it down
I don't care if they had a real bald eagle caw out my full government name, i still wouldn't drink that swill they call beer... Which is owned by inbev.... A not American consortium.
Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s amusing or sad watching a Belgium-based company play the ‘Murican freedom card so our uninformed public will send more USDs their way. I wonder how InBev’s target audience would feel knowing that the European-based company behind that ad invests heavily in environmental, social, and governance goals? I mean, shouldn’t everyone who can hear that dog whistle want to grab a pitchfork and torch if they knew how socially responsible the parent company behaves? I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’…
After many years of drinking beer, the wife and I have settled on the old reliable Miller High Life. Ice cold nothing beats it. 12.99 for a 12 pack here...you can't get a better beer for a little over a dollar each.
I mean, I don't drink so I can't comment on the beer itself but it's always seemed to me that Budweiser is more of a marketing company than anything.
Why else would you keep a bunch of Clydesdales purchased and maintained otherwise? They ain't helping make the beer, they are not even delivering it. Their commercials are always good, and that kind of good doesn't come cheap, then put that commercial in the Superbowl.
If the product sold itself I feel like you wouldn't have to go through all this.
There's a brewery up here called Mac and Jack's which makes an African amber that people absolutely love. It used to be that they would not can out bottle it, you could only get it on tap. Then COVID hit and changed those plans, since nobody was going to the bars they couldn't sell the beer so they started canning overnight. It was a huge hit. I've heard it doesn't taste quite the same as on tap but it's really close and people were really excited to be able to bring it home.
That's an example of the opposite, a beer that doesn't need million dollar commercials to sell itself
