Tools! Of the Vintage Variety, and Their Restoration.

Afternoon MCB, I've recently come into possession of some vintage tools from a family member. They have some rust though (the tools, not the family member) and need some TLC before usage. Before polishing, I'm trying to figure out if there is an existing finish (e.g. bluing or Parkerizing) that should be preserved where possible. After removing the rubber grips, it looks like there's a finish on the handles but it may just be oxidation from a high humidity environment. Tools are made by Duluth, Sears, and Roco, probably from the 1960's or 1970's. Thanks for the help!

You could use Evapo Rust. I’ve used it on my grandfathers old taps & dies. Works wonders but it may remove the finish. Afterwards I just soaked them in ATF and it’s still rust free.
