    Gym Agg

How many of you let your agglet side get to you in the gym? As a former (and wanting to get back into it) powerlifter and a practitioner of strength training who thoroughly believes it doesn't matter as long as the gear holds up, I am ashamed to admit there's a side of me that's bothered my brands don't match. Nike shoes, Adidas bag, about 4 different brands of plates, Rogue rack and bench, Texas Power Bar... the mismatch gives me a bit of a twitch...

Everyone knows matched brands gives you an extra 5% on your maxes.

I honestly never notice things like that. I usually just wear Champion shorts with a shirt I got from the union, and Under Armor shoes. I'm not a bodybuilder though. I just like to stay strong because it makes my job easier. I refuse to be one of those guys that struggles to get up from a crouching position because of their knees.

What i do notice are the fat/scrawny/CLEARLY-new-to-working-out guys wearing really try-hard shirts. Like, if you're 300 pounds, I applaud you for going to the gym. But don't go buy some power lifting brand shirt to try and look cool. If you're 120 pounds, don't wear a shirt that reads "when's leg day, bro?" Crap like that.

I think the biggest thing I want as far as brand matching goes is plates. There's something... unsatisfying... about different sized 45 plates.

But that's an exceptionally expensive vanity buy.

I use recycled trash exercise equipment. I have no standards and no shame.

Being a dad of two lovely kids, a full day job and approaching my 40's. I just manage time for gym. So, may be I am out of this league of matching outfits n weights.

          Resurrecting this thread!

I've worn mostly whatever to the gym with the exception of always wearing red or black chucks depending on what else I'm wearing. I recently got a pair of Reebok power lite shoes and they're not flashy but they're way better than chucks for squatting and deadlifting. Since they look pretty plain, green joggers and a black or grey old shirt do the trick.

I was gifted a hormesis headband and I would love to take it to the gym to catch sweat so I can wear it off the field but I feel like that would be blasphemy...

I work out in my basement, and typically barefoot. So my agg is simply a sleeveless shirt of some kind, short shorts, and a zip hoodie to accelerate my warm up.

I've been on the hunt for good but cheap tees. I don't like sleeveless because I like the shirt biting into the bar and bench. Or I guess the bench and bar biting into the shirt...

I did find some cotton/poly Adidas generic sports shorts that I like, but they're a smidge long and tend to grab around the knees during squats. I usual shy away from cotton for workout clothes, but I dig these, mostly.

Check out gymshark clothing. I have 2 pairs of their shorts. Super light weight, and cut above the knee. I love em for lunges and squats. My wife got them for me so i dunno how they price, she says they are spendy, but you can find knock offs on amazon that are nice.

She also mentioned alphalete, but you can find the knock offs of those too.

One of the reasons I no longer go to gyms and just work out at home. All of the posturing, posing and agglet behavior I find annoying. In particular I detest gym rats, never really figured out how they can be at the gym all day. Sorry if this is more then you were asking for but I used to enjoy going to the gym, before it became the local hangout where people get seen. The other thing is people who bring their kids but do no keep up with them and make sure they are being disciplined and respectful.

Dont forget to mention how they always get way over crowded from Janurary - March as resolutioners flood it.

I always found that annoying. In January you are always waiting for equipment, and or having to wipe uneducated peoples booty sweat off the seat before using it.

Home is much better. Especially for the fact that I can roll out of bed, and be working out within 10 minutes.
