I realized it's way harder to go for longer than 4 miles on a treadmill when you have nothing to think about but it's easier to keep a faster pace for me. When I run on a trail I'm constantly occupied with foot placement, etc so I'm not bored and it's easier to just keep going.

I completely agree. I also think I get a better workout when jogging the trails. It's like the treadmill assists too much, and I don't get the same good workout fatigue as foot-on-earth.

100% agree. I get bored after 2 miles on a track. Most of my running is on a paved trail that follows a local creek through town. I take detours through parks and neighborhoods from time to time to mix it up.

Didn’t do a good job of keeping up with exercise over the summer, but I’ve been running a lot the last 6 weeks or so. I’m up to 11 miles/wk (2/3/4/2 miles per day) and the last two runs of 3 and 4 miles this week were at a pace of 8’21” and 8’17” respectively. I’ve not been able to get any runs below 8’40” on average so this is a big breakthrough. Still around 185 lbs, but I feel leaner and meaner.Last edited by lhamilton1807; 10-13-2022, 03:09 PM.Originally posted by Chuck E Ducky:
