Spent three nights solo hiking the Superior Hiking trail in Northern MN earlier this summer.

    Definitely returning next summer.

We haven't really traveled since the start of this pandemic, but did go up north in MI a bit late this summer. I think it only made the wanderlust worse if I'm being honest...

Foot all healed up and back out on the trail this past weekend. Went to Snow Canyon since it's a 10 minute drive from the house. Think we are going to go hit Angels Landing one more time before it gets cold and they put a permit lottery system on it next year....

Do any of you that hike with a dog have any helpful tips or suggestions. I want to start bringing my dog on hikes. I’d like for it to be enjoyable for both of us.

He’s a lab and has a lot of energy. I don’t trust him off lease yet so he will be leased at all times.

Start with shorter hikes and spend a lot of time getting his attention and making him sit when there are distractions. Hardest part for me was to get mine to stop walking in front of people on the trail to try and get attention. I like the hip mounted leashes too to keep your arms free while hiking.

Did Angels Landing in Zion this weekend.

Went out in the snow. Haven't seen this stuff in years. Got to practice my wilderness first aid when another hiker fell on the ice and sliced their finger open and we found them trying to stuff a paper towel in the wound.

This is using my phone (Samsung S21 Ultra). I don't have a very good DSLR currently. I do a fair bit if backpacking and just don't wanna mess with the extra weight to carry a proper camera setup.

Well thats a pretty darn good camera on that phone. Some of those pics you've been taking look postcard worth.

It's the reason I picked this particular phone. When I bought it I wanted the best camera I could find in a phone.

Spent a few more nights up on the Superior Hiking trail. Temps got down to freezing at night, but the weather was absolutely gorgeous during the day.

Hiked Mt. Greylock in Adams, MA on Saturday with a crisp OAT of 14 degrees. Started off sunny, but snow crept in about an hour into the hike so no real views. Great way to spend a chilly day.

I know it’s “only” 3,500 ft, but Greylock is no joke….even in nice weather. Good lookin’ Jonny!!

My wife and I escaped MI in late February in search of some sun and warmer temperatures. I am pretty happy with the results.

Here's some shots from the Sideling Hill History Trail, a 2.3 mile loop in the Buchanan State Forest along part of the unfinished South Pennsylvania Railroad from the 1880s. It crosses the old turnpike and I had to take a detour down the abandoned Sideling Hill turnpike tunnel.
