Readers Advisory, Research, and Reference Services

As the only(?) librarian (public, academic, medical, and government) on MCB I'd like to offer digital readers advisory, research, and reference services via the forum as my time allows.

Feel free to drop me a reply or a PM with your request(s), no subject too scholarly.

My wife is a librarian as well. Three cheers for librarians!

Could you recommend some good psychology books? I just read different things and can't decide what I like the most. Although, from what I read, I liked the technique of gestalt psychology. It would be nice to get a selection of good books in this direction.

After a preliminary search it looks like most of the most current literature on gestalt psychology can be found in academic journals. Go to Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) and type in "gestalt psychology OR gestaltism" (without the quotes), filter by time using the links in the left-hand column. If you see any articles there that pique your interest but that you can't access due to a paywall, copy the citation and PM it to me.

There is also a LibGuide put out by Harford Community College that has a decent list of books and other resources that may be of interest to you:

        harford.libguides.com/psychotherapy

It also may be of interest to you to know that gestalt psychology is of interest to the following fields:

        1) Neurology & Cybernetics
        2) Quantum Mechanics
        3) Social Psychology
        4) Cognitive & Perceptual Psychology
        5) Design (UI & cartography)

If your interest in gestalt psychology overlaps with any of the fields listed above please let me know as it will help me refine the search.

Yes! (I've been absent for a bit and will get you a list shortly-ish)
