well thats where the water starts to get murky. Because the GF knows this is going on. From their perspective: they will question 1) how long shes known ; And 2) whether she “allowed” it. This is where an attorney comes in. Because again, you might have good intentions but they don’t care. Everything is big business. Everything from government fines, to lawyer fees, to court fees, to bonds and incarceration itself. It’s all big money. Thats why you have to be careful talking with cops too because sometimes they just want to close a case and not do their due diligence and conduct a proper investigation. Theyre not your friends

The best strategy, is for OP to talk to this dude. To let him know that he wants to get married and he needs to stop claiming her or he’ll get automatically flagged for VA benefits fraud. And XNine doesnt want anyone to get into legal trouble including him

Thank you for all of the thoughtful posts. Being on the outside of a situation typically gives better perspective than being inside it, and given that the MCB crew is better than most out there, I came for these insights. So, really, thank you all for your input. It's appreciated far more than you know.

Things like this can be reported to the Office of the Inspector General, and reporting anonymously is also an option. Let your own personal moral and ethical code guide you in deciding whether this is something you want to do.

Here is the link for reporting to the OIG for Veterans Affairs - https://www.vaoig.gov/hotline/online-forms

I let things happen organically, but sometimes things need a push; your call.

There are more people abusing and taking advantage that ot doesn't matter. The Air Force did me dirty.. the VA did me dirty.. I cut ties and let the scum take advantage. They can keep that corruption, drama, and bs. I dig myself out of holes and take care of myself. 16 year veteran and the only benefits i get was a discount from home depot that i finally siged up for to buy an $500 outdoor storage container that got damaged in shipping twice and now fully refunded soo i guess i'm still at zero. Yeeea I do feel bad for the people that actually deserve and need the benifits but it's soo messed up that only the scum come out on top.
