@CapitolHunters dropped some serious DD on Musk.

Disclaimer: I've never liked the cult of personality around this guy. I've very much been fascinated by the work done by the people that have worked for him.

He's gonna be a case study for some Jim Collins book one day. And not in a good way.

Solar city got squeezed dry when Tesla absorbed them. I expect the remaining Musk companies have similar underlying issues and strategies, where they're heavily leveraged on some future growth but will never succeed on their own merits.

That said... I can't imagine Twitter getting worse. It's a cesspool of grift and its moderation has existed to keep a thumb on the scales. If it implodes, good riddance.

Yeah... they're getting pretty good at making movies about people like Elisabeth Holms and Jordon Belfort. They'll need an extended edition box set for ol' Musky boy here.

Recall - Musk already ended remote work at Twitter. Now he's had to end in-office work.

        The occasional microservice is important...

“Consider: sophisticated pundits laughed at how Trump fooled his naive supporters. They called him “a poor person’s idea of a rich businessman”. Well, Elon was a non-techie’s idea of a science genius. Transcribe his interviews - they’re word salad.”

      Yep! That’s a perfect comparison.

I think Chappelle said it well. They lie to you, honestly. People get sick of the sophistry of the Bill Gates, Al Gore, and polished politicians... so they find some Conan the Barbarian type to at least cut through the BS. The issue is that all that remains is carnage.

Tesla is interesting in that, by being the first to truly mass- produce battery EVs, it shows the strain on the system. They've found all the problems, but are still trading at insane P/E ratios. Someone's gonna be left holding the bag.

-The cult stems from both the "space, but without NASA" thing (there's a lot of people that, not without cause, think NASA is a typical bloated, inefficient government bureaucracy) but mainly the "green cars" thing.

The latter is the key- electric vehicles are considered the "holy grail" to environmentalists and climate warriors, and Tesla finally being able to get one off the ground in more than "kit car" numbers is, to a large number of people, that "finally, we can save the world!" thing. Environmentalism was already pretty "culty" long before Musk/Tesla, and his 'cult of personality' just adds to that.

(It's also worth noting that Steve Jobs, still worshipped today in a similar way, had a very similar 'cult of personality' at Apple, but Mac/iPhone fanboys will forgive him all day long.)

Personally, all I want out of the deal is for Twitter (or whatever flaming wreckage is left) to be way less of a one-sided political echo chamber, and have significantly less political influence.
