Ebay not allowing paypal anymore

I recently made a bigger purchase through ebay than normal and saw the money didn't come out of my paypal like normal even though thats the form of payment I have selected. It still shows up on my paypal account summary statement, but is getting deducted through my main banking checking account.

Was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Atleast for me it started happening this month, looking at the ebay community posts, its been randomly happening to people throughout the year at different times.

If it was charged through PayPal and PP used your checking, I would double check your primary payment method in PP. It could be set to your checking as opposed to your PP balance or credit card.

I’m pretty sure eBay hasn’t used PP in over a year. More fees for them.

Edit: My experience was a seller, not a buyer. eBay was handling all the transactions now.

I used PayPal today for an eBay purchase and it went through like normal. Double check what your default payment method is in PayPal. You may have it set to your checking account

I feel like it has been discussed on here before that eBay is phasing out PP... but I'm too lazy to run a search to find the thread and confirm lol

Before if you picked PayPal it would bring you to PayPal and you could pick your payment method. Now if you pick PayPal it automatically uses your default payment, it doesn’t give you the option to change it.

It changed at least a few months back, probably earlier then that.

I'm thinking this is what happened, as you said it used to me i would log into my paypal and pay that way, now its automatic, Now that I remember, i think they changed how offers worked, you had to link your bank account so that when you put an offer in and the seller accepted, they would immediately take the funds out of your account vs how it was before where you could wait and pay through paypal later. Its not giving me an option to change it, so I'll probably be taking a break from ebay atleast for the high dollar stuff

I don't understand the make offer thing. Sometimes it has you choose your payment method before making an offer and other times it will add it to your cart and you checkout yourself after they accept the offer.
