    Money Tracker App

I’ve been scouring the internet to try and find… well, actually a physical notebook to track fitness/diet/budget, but I’ve only been able to turn up Budget and a separate Fitness/Diet one. If anyone knows of one that’s all encompassing, please link me!

If the above mention request fails, I already have apps for fitness and diet, but I can’t find one for budgeting. Well, I should say, I can’t find one that doesn’t require linking a bank account, or a credit card, or social security number., etc etc

I simply want one that lets me input my income, categorize my outgoing, and let me know the difference. That’s it! It seems to an impossible to find, however.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I’d say just a locked customized excel spreadsheet or Google doc.

I’m going to get a finance app but I do want it connected to my accounts. I’ll let you know when I do. I was gonna try the app from Dave Ramsey show.

You’re probably not wrong… but boy would an app be convenient. I much prefer the physical copy, but the reality is, I’m good for a few days, and then I’ll get gas and a coffee and by the time I get where I’m going, I don’t update it and things fall apart. Lol

I think the Ramsey every dollar app is free. No idea if it tracks your personal info though.
Ramit might have something so check him.

All else fails just make an Google sheets page for your expenses.

          Blergh... money tracking...

I don't know how much time/money I've wasted on trying to build perfect YNAB integrations with my banks/credit cards. How much time I've wasted trying to correct line by line transactions that synced to the wrong spending category...

Active budgeting apps that are going to work for someone like me is a long way off.

End of the month spending reviews are really the only way I can track my money. Fortunately Google has a pretty decent Budget template that works for this kind of stuff. I have a copy you're welcome to pull from here. Just export a copy and you would be good to go. End of the month I sit down, grab a beer and run through all the transactions I did that month and eyeball where I'm at overall with my money.

A note for anyone trying to use a budget app where you connect banking/credit card accounts and automagically all your transactions will appear.

All those integrations rely on a 3rd party service and periodically you will need to re-auth those connections to ensure they stay active. If that third party decides to stop supporting your institution's login system (or vice-versa) you are SOL. I spent lots of time trying to sync up YNAB to my family's accounts and it was not worth the hassle.

Chase and Apple Pay are the best credit card based spending report tools I've found though you will still find mis-categorized transactions now and then. The banks I use have garbage tools for spending reports.

          Good luck.

If it's free, you are the product. Not the customer.

Wifey recently used Rocket Money and has had nothing, but good things to say about it.

I use YNAB unlinked to any bank accounts. Set time aside every week or two to input all transactions one at a time (~2hours) and modify money assignments if needed. Works great for me and has helped tremendously towards paying off debt, planning for expenses, covering unexpected ones, vacations, etc. I’ve used spreadsheets before but wasn’t getting the same insights I am now.
