Starting day 2 in less than an hour. 7 Eleven clerk. Never filled out a W2 or I9 or anything. Got a 7-3 shift today. No clue what I'm being paid hourly. Or when I will get it. Just a maybe they will hire me on Friday, if I do a good job. Any thoughts? Less than 2 minute walk to the store is nice. I plan on taking my lunch break on my couch! XD
Work a job for a week, with no paperwork?

It's weird that you didn't fill out the tax forms on day 1, nor did you discuss hourly rate prior to being hired. I'd be wary.๐ PK x Ragnastock ๐ -
Be careful, you likely don't qualify for any protections a normal employee would. Like if you get hurt on the job.Comment

Yeah, he asked me what I made in the past. What I was expecting. But never told me an what I would start at. Just said it would be discussed later.Comment

Maybe if you really bust your ass these could of days the pay will be higher than if you did the bare minimum? Give it your all, and on Friday when he offers you the amount of pay, tell him you were expecting more and ask for more. I tell people no one has ever said "No, now I won't give you what I offered" worst case they will just say that is the maximum pay. Let him know you are a paintballer and need extra money to support your hobby, I am sure he will understand!

I can't believe how many people I have talked to that started a new job and didn't know what their pay was. I am confused too, you said they may hire you Friday, are you working for them but don't have the job? How does that work?
Every job I have had unless I was paid under the table, before I do anything HR sits me down and fills out all my paperwork.
I should also add, Congrats on the potential job!Comment

At my night job I do a lot of training.
I'm the first person a new employee meets face to face.
We do what's called a 'working interview' which many jobs do.
I always explain the training pay.
And that I don't know what their final pay will be once hired. Because every job site is different. But it will be more.
Because thats the truth.
People should know what they are working for.Comment

Had a talk with the owner. I'm hired, on the schedule, and starting at 16hr. Not great, but better than no job. 10hr shifts and 4 days a week. Not bad overall.
