I don't know if I'm an underground metal fan, but I do like the occasional skull beating. More into the death metal side of things, but really anything that is pretty crunchy (staccato?), has a pretty quick BPM, and not too heavy on the high-end squelchy guitars. Bands like Cancer, Ghoul, and Cannibal Corpse tend to make me happy. That crap with the long melodic breakdowns that claims to be metal (progressive metal I think?) can suck it. I'm also a big fan of Gabber, Hardcore Techno, and Breakcore. Similar sensibilities musically- hard, fast, head crushing drums; basically good for your soul. Folks like Delta 9, Tron, DOA, Doormouse, Unibomber, Stuntrock, Speedfreak, and labels like Mokum, Industrial Strength, Drop Bass Network, Addict, Distort, etc.

I mostly listen to djent, but I listen to a fair amount of progressive death metal like Opeth, Gojira, or anything Keith Merrow is a part of, some melodic death like Arch Enemy or Orbit Culture, some tech death like Revocation or Fallujah, some death thrash like Feared. I've only found a couple black metal bands I like, those being Immortal (and Abbath), and Antre.

My music taste is all over the place, but I've been on a huge Gojira kick lately. I've liked them for a while, but sorta forgot about them until a week ago when they played some of their songs at a tattoo parlor my girl got inked at. I forgot how amazing they are.
I'd be interested in some doom recommendations. I don't know too many bands, but I like the grueling, pulsing sound of the genre.

I love extreme and unsettling things haha. Right now my favorite death metal band is from Spain called Altarage. For black metal, I really love Nahtrunar. A one man act that is brilliant. Doom/stoner I haven't listened to much of lately. But there are too many damn bands I love.
I've also been listening to a lot of modern deathcore shit. Double drop tuned guitar, and basically just gnarly breakdowns for an entire album. Bands like Reflections, Distant, Humanity's Last Breath.

Huge metal fan my metal Playlist is currently at 75 hours long on Spotify. I just discovered hammerhedd though and they absolutely crush it. Everyone here should check them out, especially if you're into thrash and groove like sepultura and pantera, helmet and what not. And they're kids. Like legitimately children
