    Video Game Music

Didn't see a thread for this, so here I go.

Do any of you listen to video game music? Whether it be straight from the games or remixed, orchestrated, soundtracks with vocals, whatever. What do you like?

I myself really like pretty much anything from the Zelda and F-Zero franchises. There's TONS of Zelda music out there (Zelda Reorchestrated, among others), but the 25th Anniversary Zelda CD (packaged with Skyward Sword for the Wii) is one of my favorites. Performed by the Japanese Symphony Orchestra. I'm not one for medleys, and there's a number of them on there, but I think they did a great job with them.

My bro was the one who turned me on to a lot of the Zelda music out there. He listens to a lot of that, F-Zero and... I think Timesplitters? Lol, that's a name I haven't thought of in a long time.

I'd listen to more F-Zero music in my vehicle... but I'm kinda afraid to do that.

My kids are really into Pokemon, so I pulled out my copy of the very first Pokemon soundtrack. Gets regular air time in the wife's car, lol.

One franchise I should listen to more of is Dark Souls. I used to play DkS3 boss themes from Youtube on the computer at work on my breaks. So good.

I also have the soundtracks from the first 3 Halo games. They're pretty good for background music IMO, but I haven't listened to them for quite a while now.

The Final Fantasy franchise has some really nice pieces as well as some of the larger production RPG’s. Even some of the songs in their original Japanese language are pretty sweet too. My wife listens to Jpop and Kpop music. Zelda and the Nintendo stuff is good too like you mentioned.

FF doesn't trip my trigger as much as some other RPGs, mainly because of the ATB format. I know the music is good, but since I never seem to finish those games I never think to listen to the music outside of playing them. The only one I've actually beaten was FF Tactics Advance.

I listen to vidya music most of the day at work, I find it extremely peaceful.

I'm a big fan of an artist called "Coffee Date", she does a lot of cafe-style remixes of VG music and it's super chill.

I like String Quartet versions of music, there's a few of them out there, Final Fantasy has a few at least and I'm pretty sure there's more.

I love the music from Undertale and there's a ton of remixes and covers of them available. Chrono Trigger has some of the most memorable video game music IMO, though I think a lot of that comes from the nostalgia. I'm also a big fan of DKC remixes, specially Aquatic Ambience. Final Fantasy 6 (3) had some epic tracks that still give me chills when I listen to it.

It's funny that your brother likes Timesplitters music. I loved those games and I remember the music being distinct, but I don't know if I could pick it out of a crowd so to speak.

DKC is something I never thought to listen to. I'll have to try that.

I haven't listened to any Chrono Trigger tracks outside of the game. Perhaps I'll try that sometime. I'm a big fan of Breath of Fire and while those games aren't as "good" (subjective) as CT the music can be super catchy.

One of my playlists for working/writing is the Final Fantasy IX soundtrack. Really great stuff.

The main theme from Morrowind makes me feel like I'm coming home. I really do enjoy Bethesda scores on the whole. Their Fallout theme is awesome. And the Fallout radio tunes are a blast. The Inkspots "Maybe" has become one of my favorite tunes of all time.

I will always say that Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has some of the best music, Nintendo seems to always put out good tunes for their titles, the Super Smash Brothers series was great cause you got a glimpse of a lot of stuff, I'll always love some Pokémon themes, also Donkey Kong Country has some bangers

Sonic music is suuuper nostalgic for me, brings me right back to sitting on my cousin's floor with my auntie complaining that the invincibility stars make her nauseous.

I went to the "Video Games Live" concert back when they were touring with orchestras. That was very cool. I had the tshirt. I think it got too old.

I am a bit partial to Halo sound tracks. Every now and then I will troll through the sound tracks to the various time splitters games,

There's an orchestrated(?) kinda version of a metroid song I found years ago on OC Remix. I looooove it. Let me see if I can find it...

I have a playlist of all the noncombat/dungeon music from Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. Pretty sure I've listened to it more than any other music.

As I've mentioned in the "can't get enough of this song" thread, I listen to the Cyberpunk 2077 radio stations too. Not sure if that really counts though haha.

Talk about a trip down memory lane. I was stationed in S.Korea, when the OG Diablo released. I think we (group effort) wore out/broke at least 2 mice(mouse's?) in the process of finishing that game. 😂
