I bought this guitar for Christmas for my daughter, and for $80 I really didnt expect too much. The thing wont stay in tune no matter what. But the neck is straight, and I think it has potential. So its time to make it at least usable. First order of business will be to completely clean out the neck pocket for perfect fitment at the joint. Then, I'm adding some locking tuners I found on Amazon for $25 bucks. Anything is better than the 1 piece open worm gear tuner set that's currently on this thing. Then, I'm adding a single coil sized humbucker, also from Amazon, $10. The theme is keep it cheap if you havent figured that out yet. I plan on adding a tone knob when I wire it up. Top it off with some cheap $10 strap locks, and this thing will be quite the build for my 4 year old daughter to learn on. All in the entire project is at $125, not too bad if this actually works out.

Looking good! I still have my first electric - 80's Ibanez Roadstar with Floyd Rose Tremolo. That thing will NOT stay in tune. Nothing worse than a guitar outta tune. Keep up the good work man, that young one will be shredding soon-
I still have the first electric I bought used, and 87 Squire HM-1. Its probably the coolest Squire you've likely never heard of. HSS, no pick guard. Thats currently getting a makeover as well, all new pots and jack, new neck mini humbucker, and a cool wiring scheme, coil splits and some other magic. I put an SH-6 Distortion bridge in it a long time ago and it still sounds so good through my Peavy 6505+

Well, I added the Amazon hot rail pickup, as well as added a tone knob, the locking tuners, and a new set of Ernie Ball Cobalts. Topped it all of with a pair of strap locks to make sure that strap stays on no matter what. I'll have to set up the 6505+ and hear what that pickup can really do, but even on my Boss Katani Mini X, I can hear a huge difference from the week old single coil. My daughter loves it, she even has that metal stank face down! Now I just gotta fix mine up so we can jam together.1 PhotoComment
