He’s no longer rap royalty but he still has fans. Maybe he’ll produce better work now that he’s not so popular.Comment

You think Eminem is the greatest rapper of all time? Why? He doesn’t.
Being royalty and being great are not the same. Rap royalty is the (maybe) half dozen hiphop acts that People Magazine will review and will get Grammys. Jay Z, Dr Dre, Kanye, Wu Tang, those people. Eminem was one of those at one point.
The greats are different. The greats are Rakim, Curtis Blow, Gift of Gab, KRS, Saul Williams, etc. They don’t get awards.Comment

MF DOOM > Eminem until the end of time, and there will be no convincing me otherwise.
Em is talented, I won't deny it. Could easily argue top 10 but not even in the Mt. Rushmore conversation in my opinionComment

M&M sucks. Always did, just didn’t realize he sucked because I didn’t have access to anything of quality.Comment

Doom, Del, Busdriver, Aesop Rock…there is far more interesting stuff going on with indie hiphop than there is in the mainstream. Top 40 rap sucks even worse than the top 40 in other genres.Comment

I use to listen to M as a kid. His new stuff is garbage. He’s definitely a talented rapper. His Flow Speed and Clarity is still impressive. IMO he peeked or maybe I just grew up. I still know all the words to a lot of his early stuff. Even the D12 stuff.
Rap today is mostly over processed mumbling or junky slang only those living that lifestyle can understand. It’s not for me. The good rappers don’t need to make up words to rap.
If I listen to rap is old school or cross over rap like Ren, Prof, Webby, Calhoun, Yelawolf.Comment

I used to like him in my teenage years. Now whenever I hear his music I really don't like it. There's just something about his voice. Same goes for the Offspring although I do like a couple of their songs to this day. Maybe now I'm just older and it no longer appealing. As Shaftski would say meh.Comment

Yeah I think that’s just it. I’m just tired of hearing him I think. He got super into sowing political devision and I really despise that. I hate being lectured by people who think their opinions matter more because they have money, or a particular skill that makes them popular.Comment

Tom is way too political for me. I can’t listen to that. It just makes me angry. I don’t have issues with someone I don’t agree with. But I do have issues when they throw insults at people who they don’t agree with. I just ignore people like that I don’t need that kind of negativity especially when it comes to music and entertainment.

Having never been a fan I can say from a haters perspective that his voice was absolutely the worst of the Eminem experience. I’m slightly older than him and Detroit is not a far off exotic place for me so basically it never clicked. Having a rap beef with everyone from his mom to Moby was lame. His voice made every part worse.I used to like him in my teenage years. Now whenever I hear his music I really don't like it. There's just something about his voice. Same goes for the Offspring although I do like a couple of their songs to this day. Maybe now I'm just older and it no longer appealing. As Shaftski would say meh.
Regarding the Moby thing in particular…”Nobody listens to techno anymore…” isn’t weird because Moby quit techno in the mid 90s but because Eminem is all DEEE TOWN!!! and all that and people are absolutely making and listening to techno in Detroit. Then, now etc. It’s kind of a major thing musicology-wise, Detroit Techno. There’s a huge festival all though the Detroit metro area every year. The dude must have been on a diet of nothing but Clear Channel radio and MTV by 2002.
