Thoughts on prime lens? (Nikon z dx)

So I received my Minolta to dx converter. Works rather well, though I think it'd be more of a fun trick than useful.

So I'm wanting to buy a prime lens.

Wondering if anyone shoots Nikon, and had a specific new lens you'd recommend. Everyone says "get a 50mm" but I tend to prefer around 28-35mm ish. Not too expensive, and not to big. My goal is keep the rig small so I'm more likely to actually carry it around in my Vermont travels.

Anyway, input, especially specific lenses, would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to spend $300 or less tbh.

    Thanks!

My wife shoots Nikons…and primarily prime lenses. I’ll get the skinny from her…if I touch her camera bags she’ll probably cut my hands off. But I’m pretty sure she has a Nikkor 35 that she really likes.

She always uses B&H Photo for her equipment. They usually have pretty solid used stuff, decent pricing, and with them being in NYC, you can get your stuff pretty quick.

Hope you had a soft landing in Burlington! Welcome to the NE!

My wife has a Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 and loved it was a VERY sharp lens. The downfall is the sharpness doesn’t last. She’s shot it A LOT over the past few years, but she needs to replace it.

She recommends a nikor 50mm, as it’s cheap and versatile

If you want to do weddings/portraits, go 85mm. — my wife used to run it on a Cannon, doesn’t have one since she doesn’t shoot that type of photography any more.

I have most of the lenses, and prefer the 35mm prime. I bought a cheaper viltox lens for my Nikon but I'm not disappointed at all with it. I tend to use that lens the most.

Jeep- I have had a pretty good landing, some ups and downs. But overall good.

That all tracks, I tend to prefer something around a 35 mm vs a 50, though that's very good advice. Thank you!

Painthappy- the 35 prime, is that the dx z mount one?
