From the Appalachians to the Adirondacks, running over the Sierras and the Rockies.
That engine hauled what others couldn't.

Check out the website. They have pretty good info about how everything is operating stop wise. I don’t know if only part of the viewing is paid in Altoona. Like up close being paid, but you may still be able to get reasonably close for free, etc.

I got to see Big Boy at the Nicholson Viaduct today... it was from the cemetery but still pretty cool. 🙂

Big boy coming through a local community today. Missed the horseshoe curve and johnstowns old stone bridge but still cool to see it.

Where did you see it? We were in greensburg to see it come through. There were hundreds of people there in the middle of town. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were over 1000 people to watch it for the 2 minutes it was visible.

I watched it roll through south fork PA after it departed Cresson. From what I saw, I wouldn’t be surprised if south fork had 1000 plus people there.

This route took it along the path of the 1889 Johnstown flood down to the old stone bridge, which played its own roll during the flood.

So what is 4014s fate after he gets back to Cheyanne? Does it act as a static display there or does it have a circuit in the west it occasionally runs? Hate to hear it’s steaming days are over after this trip.
