Roku?
I have been using that for a long time. Yes, they have all the apps and you can watch most things for free. I pay for a subscription service (at&t TV Now) so I can watch live tv. But roku has their own movie app, and you can download PLUTO for most things along with youtube, etc.
Just get a roku enabled tv and all you need to do is plug it into the wall.
Definitely recommend.
The AppleTV boxes are better overall for response time when changing from channel to channel, but we have decided to go strictly roku in our house and the appletvs are just sitting unused.I am the admin...

Yeah, long-time Roku user here. Love em. Just plug it into any TV that accepts HDMI and you're off to the races. Lots of free channels you can install. Youtube, Animal Planet, History, etc etc all have an "app" for Roku where you can watch some free content.
You likely won't get mecum auctions as those are probably only available with a subscription like Hulu. I could be wrong. My Old Feedback (300+) https://web.archive.org/web/20180112...-feedback.html

We have three Roku TVs in our house. All of them have worked very well for us. In fact, my son doesn't even have a satellite hookup in his room and he doesn't complain. Between Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Disney+, and Prime, he has more than enough content to watch when he's not using it for gaming. We also have an Apple TV 2 and an Apple TV 3 in our home from when we weren't using a Smart TV. Personally, I like the Apple interface more and it's nice to have access to my Apple Movies library, but that's all we really need it for anymore.

We have a Roku One in the house. It works, but it's incredibly slow and frustrating to use.
If your father is tech savy at all, have a look at the Nvidia Shield. It's far more powerful than any Roku device. I use it for streaming all streaming services (Netflix, HBO Max, SmartTube [=youtube w/o ads], PBS, Disney+, literally any of them...) along with streaming videos from my server using Kodi, and playing games streamed from my PC. It can do a whole lot more, but get all of that out of it without a subscription fee for the device itself - just a variety of streaming service fees.
Really, any Android TV device offers a customizable experience. The Shield just has a great interface and continual support. I have the 2017 model connected to a 4k60Hz TV and there still isn't a foreseeable reason to upgrade.Paintball Selection and Storage - How to make your niche paintball part idea.

reason for ruko pops does not want pay by the month device. since we have cable in house hopping to find device that let use tv and get his youtube and other internet channels on tv. also does not want to pay for another cable box too. only need 2 in house one for me one in living room and other two room have device like ruko where no monthly fees. also does no want anything like peacock or paramount + or any of other things like it.

Just get a fire stick download the latest build off the sight. That will give you everything for free as long as you got a decent internet connection. I’m going on 9 years without cable. Only thing I pay for is Amazon prime.
you can run the program on a Ruko but I wouldn’t on one built into a TV. I like having the ability to throw out a $50 fire tv if need be.
