Halo Master Chief collection

Hey all, this weekend I picked up the Halo Master Chief collection with a few friends. It is (was) on sale for $20, so I figured that was worth me picking up to play some teen adolescent nostolgia.

They have it currently semi cross platform, and are working on full cross platform support.

Anyone else picking this title back up with the recent influx of noobs like myself?

I wouldnt mind more players to join up with if so.

I've got it ready and waiting, on the assumption I'm getting a new xbox at some stage for the new Halo (sooner than later), I doubt I would be a good game buddy, lag is a killer from here

Cant be worse than my best friend who is trying to use a powered wall booster on his wifi ( his speed fluctuates a lot) im currently on PC so we couldnt do the missions, but I have buddies on x box I could potentially link you up with.

13000+km has an effect no matter what, bad enough with getting chucked into the occasional Korean/Japanese lobbies playing cod on the PS4 let alone US lobbies.
Still, just getting my hands on a next gen console is my main challenge.
I do miss Swat on Halo 2

I do have the original halo 1 on PC ... Bought the disk before they were popular or on X-box ...
haven't played in years ... Will try to load it up and will let you know if I can play.

I have it loaded on my Series X, but I haven't started playing through it yet. I'm still working my way through the Dark Souls series again.

Got it on PC

The PC version is a much different version of the game with updated graphics and a higher frame rate cap. Played through ODST and I'm on CE right now. Definitely glad I picked it up.

Oh you can get this for PC I’m down I will grab it tonight. They made it cross platform? I use to love halo!

How dose it look with the settings turnt up? I’m averaging about 260fps on COD so I should be able to max it out on my build.

I don't think it's cross platform. While the normal Xbox MCC has been out for quite a few years, the PC version is just released last year and they are releasing a new game in the series as DLC that you get automatically about every 5-6 months. I think they're on Halo 4 now.

It looks amazing turned up. Granted I only have a 1080P monitor that will run a max of 30fps but I can easily max the graphics and it'll do 60fps on my 1070Ti. The graphics on ODST were absolutely top notch and on CE it looks way better than I ever remember it on xbox. Probably about FarCry3 level graphics for CE.

The first halo came out on PC over 10 years ago ...
I have the original one with the original case somewhere on my bookshelves ...

Yeah I know. I played countless hours on the original Halo 1 for PC. This is a fundamentally different game as far as the graphics engine and online play is concerned. It's part of the Master Chief Collection which is a re-release on PC of the older games with updated graphics, UI, and online matchmaking.

I have a buddy who just bought the MC collection on his xbox. We can play mcc games together, but cant do the story co op together.

The wording on the error message made it seem like we cant play co-op missions together "yet", but MCC was fully cross platform.

That being said, you need to get x box game companion to party chat with your x box bros instead of discord.

As for the graphics, I agree, CE looks amazing considering its age on 100 fps. I also dont recall legendary mode being such a grind. That or Im not half as good as I once was. Haha.

You're probably not too far off there. I no longer have the reflexes I used to have when Halo came out with the first Xbox. Watching my son play a lot of these modern shooters makes me realize just how slow I've gotten. It's like watching a kid with ADD dosed up on speed - especially in games like Fortnite or Apex where they're pressing practically every button on the controller in rapid succession to one another. I just can't keep up anymore.

I suck at Halo’s online play. I consistently carry a ~.46 K/D ratio in slayer. I’m not bad at objective games though. Have received many compliments for my driving skills over the years.

I’m more of a campaign, firefight & Spartan Ops buff. PvE is where it’s at for me.

I have the Xbox app on my PC I wonder if that will work. I get a month free I haven’t tried it yet. But I guess it lets you play Xbox games on PC. It’s like Live for PC anyone try it.

I hear that. I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I played a real multiplayer game like Halo or COD. Most of my PvP experiences lately have been more one on one in nature in games like Dark Souls where the skill set is vastly different from those found in modern shooters. I've become a much more calculating player than reflex based in recent years. This is actually pretty strange though considering how my nearly 16-year-old son can perform consistently well in games like Siege and Apex, but he is still extremely intimidated by the games I like to play. It's no wonder he gets annoyed when I can still get away with telling him to "Git gud, scrub".

Ahaha, I hear ya on that. My gaming reflexes are pretty much gone, not that I had much to begin with. I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to play Dark Souls. Gonna be so much fun.
The only PvP game I'm consistently good at is Mario Kart 8. Always been good at Mario Kart and I want to enter tournaments if/when the local establishments start doing those again. If there's any game I will brag up my skills in it's MK8.

It will work, and they made it so chat works on silver accounts, so no need to keep the gold account.

Interesting the Xbox app came pre loaded with my new PC build I haven’t messed with it because the entire point of me going PC is so I could play without a live subscription. COD has been pissing me off lately with the end of game hostility and rampant cheating. I may give Halo a try. I love shooters can’t wait for The new battlefield game. I’m sure the hacks will rune that to as soon as it’s released. Maybe playing something off the “A list” radar might be more enjoyable.
