Where does one find older private label editions of chips and boards?

I am looking for a GPU from ~2011 or one from ~2017, made by a company named Galaxy. They no longer list these models on their website, and my normal search methods are not yielding any results.

Is there a place where one may find the performance parts of yesteryear?

The two things I am specifically looking for are the:
Galax GTX 260+ "Razor", or the
Galax GTX 1070 "Katana"...


Both are single slot versions of cards that are normally double slot. Both are also SLI capable.

No, there is no Mcarterbrown of pc parts. You can ask around on forums and hope to get lucky. Tech just loses value so quickly people don't really hang on to stuff.
Forums and asking around are your best bet.

Galaxy is also not very well marketed in the US and Canada, so that makes it even more difficult.

Newegg is probably your best bet looking for single slot options. There are plenty but this market is aimed at systems that just need a GPU, not really for performance.

I would probably take a look at Alibaba/Ali Express.

My own experience with a 1070 is there is no WAY that card is going to perform to it's ability and stay cool as a single slot card.

I'd caution against Alibaba and Ali Express for specific tech gear based on what I've read in the industry. The prevailing expectation is that you'll receive counterfeit, non-mfg. repaired, or just blatantly wrong items and have little if any recourse. Guessing you've experienced differently, Punkncat?

Certainly not my retailer of choice, but at times not a bad place to find older or off the main stream items. As anywhere, buyer beware.

Honestly, your best bet is probably eBay or a Tech Archivist.

GPUs are typically produced for a short time before the production line is reconfigured for the next product - and that's a relatively short period; as short as possible, actually. Once on the market, they nearly dissolve into the ether. They'll likely pop up on the market after each new GPU release, with decreasing frequency as time goes on. After ~3 generations of GPU release, people usually just recycle them because it's not worth the hassle of selling them.

Good luck to you. See if there's an electronics recycling center near you. A lot of those places will save some of the more interesting tech as a sort of tech archivist.
