PSA Nvidia driver 471.11 is BSOD fun

Just a heads up that the Nvidia driver series 471.11 has some wrinkles. During install you might experience a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) as MACHINE_STOP_CODE or DRIVER_FAILURE type messages

Earlier drivers seem to be fine. To get 471.11 working you need to boot into Safe Mode and run DDU. Reboot back into Safe Mode, and then run the 471.11 installer with Admin Privilege's.

Real pain, causes boot loops, sudden lack of hair on head.

If your system was working fine and you updated your Nvidia drivers, this is the reason, don't worry.

I'm on a GTX980 so the driver is ok on older cards. I wouldn't run this driver on 600 or 700 series though seems it is buggy on Kepler.

I've not heard about this one yet...still caught up in the "emergency" print spool driver update that breaks your ability to print....

Is this a Beta, or the recommended driver? (haven't looked yet)

Oh ya I got that patch after I finally updated to 21h1 from 1909, and had to go through many hoops to do so because of my old setup. Not too bad once I understood wtf was wrong.

Nvidia driver 471.11 is a WHQL release driver.
I just spotted a 471.22 hotfix driver too, but it addresses game issues, not kill your windows install issues.

I'm on my 3rd 2080Ti I have to RMA. I think I'm done with Nvidia for a bit.

i was just on .11, have been for at least a month, never got a BSOD though, .68 is whats current now
