    EVE Online

    Anyone play?

I logged in today for the first time in nine years . . . It's going to take some reading and watching before I undock.

No but if you happen to be on Elite Dangerous as well, my CMDR name is the same.

Yeah, I play in the Minmatar milita mostly small gang/solo PVP but, I haven't been super active recently just a few kills here and there. Been playing since 2006.

Nice! I just started an Alpha in Minmatar space, and had my old primary pilot a Mammoth of all things (damn you CCP for introducing a free-to-play model and preventing my big bads from being able to play with their shiniest toys) into Minmatar space filled with goodies to hand over.

The new tutorial is pretty good, and I really like a lot of the changes they've made.

Oh I have a bunch of different characters, my main has somewhere between 100 and 200 million SP. I am not sure the specific number my main is in Electus Matari, but my primary combat alt has like 30 million SP or the like because all I have to do is fly frigates and destroyers for FW PVP and if I really need big ships I can always use my main. I have four or five other characters probably around 20 million SP for various purposes.

I forgot about faction warfare - maybe I'll participate if I can't find anything else to do. Been having fun with my industry/hauling character moving massive piles of stuff I scattered all over the universe - and buying low and selling high across regions with https://evetrade.space/ 's help.

Really loving the apps available for EVE nowadays, being able to manage my skills and check my in-game mail on my phone is huge. As a cartography geek I'm also glad that there is a map app (EVEeye) - years ago I had a binder of maps that I would refer to.

And I haven't even started to check out all the new exploration stuff . . .

I stopped playing several years ago. My computer crapped out and it was a good time to go cold turkey with Eve Online.

I was rarely in null sec, and occasionally in low. Mainly a hi-sec care bear. We made everything except capitol ships.

Have the hi-sec stations been destroyed or looted? If not, I have quite a few BPO's laying around somewhere.

I doubt my current computer will support the game, but please don't tempt me.

So many many player owned structures in hi-sec! It's crazy . . . I especially got a kick out of how player owned structures are now often the cheapest places to buy goods in any given system.

I played for bit. That game is a lot of fun but man is it a time-sink. On and off over the last decade or so..last time I played I was flying around in null-sec scanning for artifacts/blueprints (I think that is what they are called?) and whatnot. It was a great time running around cloaked and hoping that no one was waiting in the area to attack my ship. That game can really get the adrenaline pumping

There was definitely a time when EVE gobbled up my life (ROADKILL/SMASH era), I don't have time for that level of commitment these days. I'm *loving* that I can log in for free and mess around, it's like an old familiar friend with new toys.

I tried way back... I was going to strike it rich mining... Then, I went afk to bio while in hi-sec space and someone blew up my ship!

I was about to quit, then I picked up some random drop that was worth billions of isk, sold it, then bought some nice ships then tried to PVP and blew up a few more times... After that I decided this game was too cool for me and dropped it.

I got into echoes - the mobile version.

        It's really surprisingly good.

But as with the others, the time sink is too much and I've dropped it. I try not to play games that can eat 5 hours a day.

I don't know if this person has made this knowledge public so I don't want to name drop. It's fascinating, though, that a recognizable name in paintball was heavily involved with creating this game. Small world...

Why? Do you think we will automatically hopper dump at 300+fps?

If anyone is interested in giving EVE a try, feel free to use my invite code:

Your friend has personally invited you to play EVE Online through the Recruitment Program. You can play for free as an Alpha pilot, with an added bonus of 1,000,000 Skill Points to spend on any skills you choose, saving you 20 days of training.

You'll get 1,000,000 skill points, and I will apparently get stuff too.

Chuck, Like any addiction, the first hits are free. After you get hooked you justify the monthly subscription by telling yourself you could be smoking or drinking instead.

Sounds like you got dicked by CODE back in the day. Those guys ran me out of the game last time I was playing, all I wanted to do was make some isk while I cleaned my house or watched Netflix but having to check every 30 seconds to make sure someone wasn't trying to suicide gank me just got tedious.

I played for over 3 years, with one of the most dominant corps. It was the best/worst thing that ever happened to me

Enjoying my return to EVE quite alot, mostly due to the hauling corp that I joined:

                https://www.pushx.net/

Great group of folks that are incredibly well organized and have developed some amazing workflow tools that integrate with the game in order to better manage the hauling contract queue.

If anyone is interested in playing space truckers with me let me know!
