PS4 Update 7.5.1 killed my PS4...

Anyone else have problems with update 7.5.1?

It said it was required to download the update file to a USB, and install the update manually... ok, Playstation, every other update is automatic, but the PS5 is out so you want to play the odds of people just getting a PS5 instead of updating their PS4. Got it.

So I do their BS. Format the USB to Fat32. Create the folder and subfolder of the proper names. Follow their instructions on starting in Safe Mode.

It's a loop. It doesn't work. The PS4 keeps restarting into the improper shut down screen. Every time.

Had to factory reset the PS4... initialize or whatever they call it.

It's still super slow. Literally broken compared to a week ago.

Funny story: Update 7.5.1 has been out since April and this PS4 has been hooked to the internet the whole time. Just now started asking for this update.

It's broken. Even after the factory reset, it refuses to load games.

Anything involving actual processing, the system restarts into the improper shutdown screen... something about checking memory, but the loading bar just sits at 24%...

It's literally impossible to convince me that this isn't a killswitch from Playstation to promote the PS5.

But this is my daughter's PS4, at her mom's house... and I don't have the money for a new one.

Nor do I want anything to do with Playstation at this moment.

Same thing happened to my PS3 back with a Black Ops update... PSN gave out tones of free games and stuff for that mistake.

same thing happened to me. Game Broke my ps3 for a month till it finally got sorted out.

So, SLOW! Like 30 seconds just to switch panels on the home screen.

Clicked on "Messages" a couple minutes ago... it says I received a new message, but hasn't done anything yet as far as letting me see it, select it, read it... back out to a different screen... nah, it fine right where it is, apparently.

I have been at this all night.

Factory reset the thing twice, thrice times, meow?

Restored defaults.

Reconfigured the memory a couple times.

Installed the stupid 7.5.1 update a least half a dozen times... both manually and via interwebs.

Oh fun, it just went to sleep instead of showing me the message... it's sleepy.

But it's not asleep... there's no waking it up... it's just thinking REALLY hard? I don't know. But the power button does nothing. The controllers are still on, and blue, but the screen is black and inactive. The power button light is white, not blue...

There is no customer service, either. They have a stupid robot that doesn't help, and will finally direct you to live chat. Live chat won't recognize the account, so I don't get live chat. Due to the pandemic, there is no call service.

I am loading the shotgun now... lol.

Can you get into the safe mode boot in order to check the hard drive? It could be an issue with that. There's also a fix and replace on the playstation website. Not sure if you tried that or not.

I have tried their live chat and requested a service call... we will see what happens if/when they call.

Well if for some reason it's the hard drive let me know. I have the original one from when i upgraded the drive in my ps4. It's just sitting in a box.

just be glad you do not have ipad or iphone for new update for lightroom/photoshop. it will cause you to lose all your save photo on it with no way to recover them

Playstation is sending me a box to ship them the PS4 for service. We will see what happens.
