Started playing Contra Advance a couple of days ago. I’m not exactly sure why i kept playing after the first 100 deaths or so. Even with save states the game is punishing. It’s not even all that consistent with its cruelty. Some shots will pass right through you only to kill you after you inevitably reload your last save. Maybe i hate myself even more than i thought i did but instead of self mutilation i force myself to get pimp slapped by certain games over & over & over.

So my gaming ADD kicked in yet again & I started a playthrough of Secret of Mana. I never played more than an hour or two in any previous attempt, but I know this is one of those seminal SNES RPGs that any RPG fan should play. I'm going to hopefully stick with it this time.

Still working on my no-evolution run of Pokemon Red. I'm probably 35-40% of the way through at the moment. Not real difficult, but it does require some slightly different approaches to certain battles. Sweeping isn't always the best option when you're lacking the stats.

nothing crazy: Maingear Vybe chassis, AMD 5600X, Gigabyte x570 Elite mobo, Asus Strix 1080ti, 32 gigs of Corsair RAM, x2 2TB nvme drives, a 5 TB spinner, Corsair 850 watt PSU, and the Sound Blaster ZXR. It’s already going on three years, the video card I’ve had for like 8 years? It was grandfather’d from my last build A really long time and it still runs games at 1440p competently

punkncat Thanks. Yeah they hit it out of the park with the 1080. I would get a 3080 but obviously availability and scalping is still a problem.

I would, admittedly, like to have a 3080 or 90 at MSRP and actually desire the founder edition to anything else. I have a build I made specific to it, thinking that the GPU prices would have normalized by now. Lian Li o11D mini, MSI Z590i Unify, with an 11600K cooled by a Noctua Chromax 9 series. I intend(ed) it to be a low lit non-cotton candy build with extremely good gaming performance for the 4K Samsung TV I have paired with it. Unfortunately, that has not come to fruition. I will likely wait it out for the 40xx series at this point.

Better to wait for something to cryple the crypto (at least momentarily) than expecting to get in on the next generation release... Dirty cryptlets snipe availability before us pleebs ever stand a chance of getting them.

I have a very similar build, except I opted to sell my 1080ti FTW3 back in August for more than I paid for it several years ago. I think they're still going for 8 or 9 hundred on ebay right now. Biding my time with games like Factorio until RTX cards are attainable again, at which point I'll enjoy a few hours of beautiful gameplay before going back to factorio. This is the way.

Cool. Not gaming much right now but Ill check out Factorio. i highly reommend Total War Warhmmaer II. Such an underrated game! But yeah, its crazy, they also went back up in the grey re-seller market due to crypto mining ramping back up. Plus obviously, as you know, the pandemic is obviously exacerbating supply chain issues, plus demand is up due people staying at home ,etc.

These are awesome! Combine that with Tie Fighter, and if you can Fallen Order and you've got a great experience.

Never played TF but I have played Xwing vs TF. Fallen Order is great too. I've been on a LucasArts kick recently. These games aged pretty damn good.

Anyone play fields of battle? I got it on steam, and in a weekend I seem to have the best gear I can get without sinking real money into it, but I kinda like the way you all play npcs and its a race for points.

Also pretty sure Im cheating playing on keyboard and mouse vs a bunch of mobile guys.

I have and do often consider selling one of the two 1080 I have now in order to cash in on more than I paid (for at least one of them). I do enjoy the games and refresh rate they pull so cannot bring myself to pull the trigger. Considering what normally happens to me, I sell one and the other takes a shit. Even having the money towards it now is basically wasted unless you have it somehow making interest greater than this stupid inflation ongoing.

I mean, you can always buy one back for similar... I doubt they go up any higher than they have.

I started playing Kaze & The Wild Masks last night. Pretty standard platformer so far. I like the cartoony visuals a lot. Looks very similar to the Toki remake, which i really like. Definitely on the easy side so far but that’s not always a bad thing. Kirby’s Epic Yarn was really easy but was one of my favorite games of that generation. I’ve got Journey To The Savage Planet, Foreclosed & XIII on the way. I know XIII got destroyed review wise but i liked the original & it was dirt cheap. I’m bound to get $7.00 worth of enjoyment out of it.

I bought a ton of old PC games I used to play as a kid. Some of them don't work on windows 10, so I'll need to figure something out. But the list goes.

            Zoo tycoon Zoo tycoon 2
            Delta force
            Delta force 2
            Delta force land warrior
Delta force task force dagger (never heard of it before)
            Shark! Hunting the great white.
            Roller coaster tycoon 2

            Non working
            Simant
            Simsafari
            Mall tycoon
            Lego rock raiders
            Amazon trail 3rd edition

I also got The Muppets Treasure Island. I used to play the shit out of it.

Just having a hoot playing them again. I'm hoping tomorrow when my swelling from .y wisdom teeth goes down that I'll be able to hop on some zoo tycoon. Already finished Delta force 1, a game I've played for 25 years but never beat. Same applies to the others, I wanna just beat them so I can conquer them after all these years.

Unless you're version specific (or a law abiding citizen) you could probably get the SNES version of Simant to run in an emulator. Personally I preferred the SNES version but either way it's a great game.

Man, I love playing my old games. Butt the bugginess with win 10 is lame. That or when you get old games and steam locks them up.

2 of my biggest disappointments with that.

Half life 2. My cd key is tied to an ooold account I cant recover so steam wont let me play it.

Dungeon keeper 2. Ive had mixed success playing it with all of the patches and sruff out there but it would repeatedly crash on my old pc. i cant even get it to run on my new one.

That being said AE owns rights to it so i can play if I pay for the subscription.

But unreal tourney works. Total annihilation. True crime streets of la. Morrowind. Are some of the old cd titles I still have.

I remember playing the first Amazon Trail game on a Mac my mom got to borrow from school over the summer. It was in color!

We played the heck out of Muppet Treasure Island when ever I visited my cousin. She really enjoyed it, and we shared in her adventure.

Lately it’s been Super Robot Wars T for Switch and also a lot of Mario Kart 8 because that game just never dies.

I was a big Harvest Moon guy back in the day, but never played Stardew Valley.

Finally decided to pull the trigger and I think I've put in 40 hours since the beginning of January. Absolutely hooked.

I did this about a decade ago, haha. Think I bought all of the HL keys for something like $10. My original orange box keys were probably lost for a decade by then. Used to save the boxes and all that, but figured 'why the hell would I ever need this again?' Thankful for Steam as a platform... I don't miss a shelf full of box art that would need to move from place to place with me.

yeah man! it’s VR compatible so I play it on my Rift S and it’s super fun, especially when using a pump gun, since you have to actually mimic the motion.
