Among Us

I've jumped onto the hype train and got sucked into this game pretty hard. Does anyone else here play? For those who don't know about it yet, Among Us is an indie game on PC and mobile (cross platform) where up to ten people need to complete a series of mini game tasks on a spaceship or base to win. The catch is that up to three of the ten are actually impostors out to kill the others before they do while remaining undetected and anonymous. The fun comes in when a body is discovered or the imposters are so suspicious that everyone is called into an emergency meeting to hash out who the impostors are. This is where lying, scheming, and strategy come into play as impostors try to cast doubt and get their opponents thrown out the airlock or into a pool of lava. If the crew completes all tasks or unmasks all of the impostors, they win. If the impostors kill off the crew or convince them to kill off their own teammates, they win.

My oldest daughter plays a Roblox(?) knockoff called Imposters or something like that. She was just talking about this Among Us game yesterday.

man, i kinda of remember this game from a while back. it's kind of like mafia, right?

i loved the concept. how long is the typical game?

It's a lot like Mafia, yeah. The game came out in 2018, but it has only recently taken off in popularity. I'd say the average game takes maybe fifteen to twenty minutes. Then again, if the impostors are pretty bad and get caught quickly, it can be over in far less time. If you get a good group of players together the game can be pretty intense. On the other hand, if you end up in a room full of idiots, tweens, or Discord cheaters the game can be less fun. Still, I tend to have better luck more often than not and avoid rooms where the host has a name only a kid would choose.

i just recently got turned onto this game, its alot of fun if everyone is on voice and has a common interest, this group would be a riot

If you have a Discord that would be awesome. I looked into how the game handles private games. We won't be able to have a common lobby that we can use each time, so whoever is host will need to read off the room code to everyone else.

I installed Discord on my PC last night. I think I might need a new mic, but I can always use my laptop if I have to.

I couldn't agree more. The Steam version is only five bucks, includes more stuff, controls better, is easier to type on, and looks a lot better on a larger display.

Don't know how i missed this thread. I play now and then when i've got free time. Played with a few MCBers a couple times. Falcon and MrKittyCat i think?
