    Ham Radio

VE6FTR/VE6YL here. Anyone else into this diverse hobby?

I’m in the process of building a portable setup, I already have a Yaesu FT8900R that was mounted in my old truck, and I just ordered a Yaesu FT 891 to get into HF. I’m hoping to get radios, antennas, other peripherals, and power into one self contained unit. I can’t have anything permanent at my house, so field setups are the name of the game.

I once participated in the BSA's "Jamboree On the Air" and talked to some assistant scoutmaster in I-don't-know-where Alaska just long enough to get a cub scout patch. And that is the extent of my HAM radio experience

I have a hand held, and am slowly studying for the test. I'll read a chapter a month....

          So many weird numbers.

KB8PIF. Although I haven’t been on air in some time. Kept the call active. One day may return.

Never got my license but picked up a couple of Baofengs and a big old whip antenna and I'll occasionally listen in to marine weather and the local repeater station. Doesn't seem to be much activity around these parts.

Not really a radio junkie, just a means to an end to me though I am more than a simple end user.

I have one Motorola base station and a bunch of Baofengs in different rigs and kits.

I'm a bit into the hobby. I run mostly FT8 on HF anymore, and a touch of CW.

My portable rig is almost done, just waiting on a Buddipole setup and a cw keyer and it’s all good. Power supply, battery, charger, hf, vhf and antenna all in one box. Should make for a fun “off to the park for some radio” kit, or good for from home work.

I don't really do anything with it, but it's nice to have the license. I've got a couple Baofeng's kicking around somewhere, and a Yaesu mobile that I've been meaning to put in the car. One of these days.

I just got my new DMR setup working today. Had a nice chat with a guy in Scotland.

I occasionally drop into the nets from my old club through echolink.
