Am i crazy or is that a Stingray? It’s from The Daedalus Encounter for the 3DO.

That is most definitely based off a Brass Eagle product.

What was the gun the stingray was modeled after though? He I vaguely recall a thread on here or the old forum that had details about stingray history and mentioned a real (obscure) firearm it looked a lot alike.

Yep, the lower receiver is modeled after Kimel AP-9. Weird thing is that there should be a mag sticking out of the front of the grip's frame of the real steel and there isn't one in the picture. If this isn't a shot from a reload animation it seems like it could be based on the paintball gun instead of the real steel. The big sight kind of looks like a cheap ADCO sight popular with woodsballers when Stingrays were in use so maybe it's a tribute to the person's woodsball setup from back in the day? Just as likely though is it's and image pieced together from generic gun parts and the person picked stuff that would look futuristic.

Yeah I’m fairly sure I’ve seen that sight too. I’d bet they bought a Stingray, possibly painted it (can’t tell if it’s supposed to be silver or if it’s the lighting making it look that way) & digitized it a la Mortal Kombat. Looks like that’s what they did with the guy’s face too since I’m pretty sure the suit he’s wearing is all CGI.

Just looking at some pics of an AP-9, it looks like a mix between a Stingray and a Minimag.

It's definitely a dressed up Stingray.

If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

        A 3do game starring Tia Carerra shooting a stingray…
It doesn’t get more 90s then that.

Go watch some playthrough videos on YouTube. It's bad, but in a way that it's so bad that it's good? Probably just 90's nostalgia kicking in.

Yeah that’s actually where i noticed it. I’ve got a decent 3DO collection & have owned far more in the past but The Daedalus Encounter was never one of them. I always liked FMV in games. Heck i still get a kick out of Mad Dog McCree, Crime Patrol, etc.

I was fond of the CD-i (later Windows and MacOS) game "Burn:Cycle" back in the day. Had that cool cyberpunk vibe that I wished the future was going to be like...
