    Dos/Windows Games on Mac

    Ok guys.

Daughter wants to play Dungeon Keeper 2. We have the game but she's one of those darn Mac people (Mac pro retina). Any thoughts on what she would need to do to be able to play it?

There are multiple DOS emulators for Mac. It’s been years since I touched one. Hopefully one of them is still being updated.

Dk2 specifically has been especially hard to get to work on modern windows for me. Even with all the patches I can't get it to run without pixelating, crashing, and or simply not booting. I have the original cd and all. I forget the details of the graphic drivers, but it's the only game I have the cds for that I can't play.

Even with a dos emulators think you will need the right drivers to get it to work. I don't have a Mac so I have no experience trying to get it to work. But I'm interested in knowing if you succeed.

If all else fails. You can pay for a subscription to EA origin or whatever their service is to play a new alleged stable copy of it.

I have a version of it, I think from GOG, that works on her brother's laptop. Maybe their version would work for you?

Possibly. It is also listed as windows 7. Everything I read says it won't work on Win 10. I was using it semi successfully on my wife's PC using the integrated chip set gpu. It worked but was unstable.

On my gaming PC I've built from bargain parts it doesn't work at all. I can get the menu to load, go to start a new game and it instantly crashes.

I've filled the void with war for the overworld on steam, it's not quite dk2, but it tries to be and I was able to play it for a handful of hours and get what I needed from it.

Lookup DOSbox, I used it for a long time for DOS and Amiga games from long ago and it works with MAC OS. I had no issues running it and the computer I am typing on right now though I have not used it in a couple years.

DOSBox was going to be my suggestion too. You can also run old versions of windows in DOSbox. Windows 3.11 and older are simple. 95/98/98SE/ME are possible, but take a bit more effort.
