28 Years Later - looks terrible *SPOILER FREE*

I was looking forward to this but it looks like straight up 💩. I think I’m skipping it … without spoiling anything for anyone, did you like it yes or no?

Didn't know it was made sadly. Nothing will beat the opening scene of 28 weeks later. A quick check of the reviews look positive, but seems like the ending wasn't for everyone on this new release.

I'm a fan of cinema and understand the importance of opening weekend so I watched it this past weekend. For what got I understand the choices Danny Boyle made. I feel lots of people were left underwhelmed cause the movie is very much a slow burn opposed to the previous two installments, it's very slow build up with small moments of "zombie" action.

Personally I loved it(for a point of reference I love trash horror movies as well) do I think you should go to the theaters to watch it, yes, movies and sequels don't get made if there isn't a market showing up for an opening theatrical release and total box office sales. Was it worth going to a theater to watch, for me 100%. I understand that going to the theater is expensive and a luxury, if anyone is on the fence, wait until it's in a discount theater or if your theater has a reduced price day or matinee I'd say shoot for that. And if you're expecting what 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later you're gonna get left disappointed so just wait a few months until it's on streaming.

I love horror, and, for what it’s worth, sometimes I don’t mind a movie that’s one and done. I have seen a ton of movies that held my attention and made me think from a different perspective, and even if they weren’t “good” I still enjoyed them.

I love 28 days, 28 weeks was cool. I’ll see this one too.

Also go into this film knowing it's part of its own trilogy(not including 28 Days or 28Weeks) Danny Boyle has publicly said he's already filmed the second part and it's out in January of 2026, as for the third film it's prolly expected in mid to late 2027 or early 2028(my guess is for marketing reasons)

I am committed to the series. Especially since this is the original director's return to the franchise. That being said, I heard there were some ultra WTF moments. I didn't get direct spoilers, but I heard the ending was most egregious! Can't wait for 28 Semi-Centinnials Later or whatever they want to do with the franchise. Like Jason X, but zombies in space lol

I've always enjoyed dystopian apocalypse movies. Zombie movies less so, but sometimes they are well done like 28 Days Later. My only complaint was the overuse of the "waking up in the apocalypse" trope used far too often.

I saw it today and loved it.

"28 years later? More like 28 inches later".

I liked the movie, I thought it was fun. I liked the characters and the pacing. Its not fast paced like the first 2 and more of a slow burn overall but still had its absolute panic moments. Lots of infected action, some people aren't about the naked zombies, but clothes dont last 28 years worn 24/7 outside. It had a few practical effects moments that looked a bit cheap, but considering everything i thought it was fine.

Bit of a weird story for the second half but it worked fine, I liked how E and the MC interacted.

Thought it was great! From the trailer I thought it was gonna go more generic post apocalyptic crazy bad guy and it was not even close to that. They shot it all on iphones which was interesting but I don't think it worked nearly as well as using the XL1 on the original film.

My only complaint really was the very end is a HUGE tonal shift and is pretty much exactly what I don't want to see in this series which sucks cause it definitely sets the tone for the next one.

Little late to the thread here but just recently watched it last night; I definitely enjoyed it. As alpha_q_up touched on, it is a bit slower paced than the previous movies, but even as a normally fidgety person I had no trouble sitting through and watching it all.

The addition of the "alpha" zombie was interesting and added a new dynamic, especially in conjunction with the predominantly bow & arrow weapons we see them use. The zombies running also heavily reminded me of the titans running from Attack on Titan. Wasn't expecting the feels there towards the end, and most certainly did not expect the very ending and the setup for an immediate sequel.
