Did anyone play the Battlefield 6 beta?

Did EA overhype BF6? They made such a big marketing campaign this past year showcasing how the game was back to its original formula, etc, etc — but I’m hearing mixed reviews (verging on negative).

I’m an OG BF player since 1942. So you already know where I stand.

I don’t care for the small COD-like maps and gameplay. Give me clear skies, lots of vehicles, and good balance.

Did any of you guys get to play it? Thoughts?

I played it enough to do all the challenges. I for one am pretty excited about to the return of a realistic fps. I've been playing Battlefield since 1942 spent the most time with bf3, bad company, and bf1 missed some games here and there but I've always followed the series. It's my understanding they did the small map testing to get more info as far as gameplay and mechanics. Smaller maps equals more engagements and more data collected. I also have a sneaking suspicion they're directly targeting the greater CoD community. Their core fanbase is fed up with the direction of the last several games. The beta date coincided with the release of the 5th season CoD battle pass. Not to mention the release date is a month before the next CoD BO7 open beta.

I think the gameplay and return to form looks promising and I'm sure they have bigger maps they're probably just working out bugs. Was only a beta after all. I for one am hoping his burries CoD for their arrogance of ingoring their fans but it's a huge gaming titan so BF6 will have to blow it out of the park. B07 is supposed to be a futuristic installment which history has shown does poorly see infinite warfare and even bf 2042

The maps they let you play are bit smaller than the traditional BF games. There was some changes in support classes I’m not sure about. It did run pretty smooth especially since they smashed records on the number of people playing the beta. Visually it looks pretty good. I’m excited for it but I won’t pre order it. Due to past Battlefield rollout experiences. But given the popularity of the beta seems like they did pretty well handling the traffic. We will see how they do when all the features are available.

Rush was reduced from 64 to 32 it plays better that way IMO but a lot of people prefer more players.

Im excited for the sandbox mode and seeing what the players come up with. I have a game type I really want to try and bring back from the BF1 days.

I forgot to say that, STOP preordering games. It encourages them to ship broken games

" I for one am pretty excited about to the return of s realistic fps."

Since when was BF meant to be realistic, lol

I enjoyed 1942 and Vietnam, never really got into the modern warfare ones. I'm kinda sick of modern warfare as a theme. It's just a shame what they did with BF5, which killed BF for WW2 for a while.

I just want the OG "Battle of Britain" map back, and flight/helo controls that are genuinely difficult unless you have a stick.

Also, carrying giant riverboats around the map under helos in Vietnam was brilliant fun. Games are too locked down these days, it's hard to just have fun with it.

I love love love Hunt Showdown even though they've been watering it down recently. The no respawns and no extraction basically describes Battle royals and nothing else. BF is coming out with their own Warzone to compete directly. There's plenty of smaller studios out there making cool stuff but you might have to stick to steam/PC for the very niche

      I want:

2 massive armies, you're on one or the other team

vehicles galore, which require multiple players to use well

you spawn in a vehicle maybe, if you want.

      Perhaps you can command NPCs.

Clear incentives for teamwork. The game is designed so running off solo will get you dead.

no respawns, or, some kind of gulag system which is also a large battle.

Battle continues until victory condition is met (elimination probably would take forever - you'd have a capture point or a timer)

As far as I know, this game does not exist and never has existed. CoD's BR team battle modes come close, but they're just spammy chaos and no fun.

The ideal setting would probably be 40k. Players are marines, NPCs are Astra Militarum or race based equivalent.

I wanted to but couldnt because my EA account was deactivated... emailed 3 times and nothing but crickets so ill be skipping it since I dont want to make an entire new Playstation account just to play a game.

Ive heard from several people that its not as good as BF3/4/1, but much better than Hardline, V and 2142. Alot of complaints were coming from the CoD fan base, who EA/Dice initially tried to pull from but after BF community feedback they decided to bring it back to BF after the beta (less slides and jumpy BS from CoD). A lot of those initial streamers they hired were also CoD only players and just dont get how BF plays and wanted to change it. Im assuming they went to third party companies to get the streamers.

Imho, Professional gamers and Streamers being able to change a games core values for their online content is what has killed alot of games. Call of Duty being the big one. We dont need season passes and beavis and butthead skins to have fun.. just make a good game.

Chuck E Ducky do you think its well-optimized? Could I run it on a 1080ti + AMD 7700X3D + 32 gigs RAM? If it stays around 60 FPS, I could manage. Otherwise, maybe it’s finally time for an upgrade.

Honestly I doubt it will run well at those specs. There is so much going on. Very few Games are not optimized very well anymore. I think you will need at minimum what a modern console will handle. Not really sure what the Xbox / PlayStation are putting out these days. Probably time to update.

Chuck E Ducky yeah I figured. I just hate to give money to Nvidia given their recent anti consumer policies. Maybe I should re-visit AMD video cards even if they’re not as good.

PC Gamer: Battlefield 6 producer acknowledges vehicles were underpowered in the beta, but says it's better than the alternative: 'Rather have too weak vehicles over too powerful'

“The exchange began with a video of leaked Operation Firestorm gameplay depicting an engineer sniping and firing rockets from the map's highest tower. To critics of Battlefield 6's controversial "open weapons" default ruleset, the scenario is a perfect example of why letting any class use any gun disrupts the balance of Battlefield.

"A classic demonstration of why open classes don't work. Support with ammo resupply/sniper, and APS gadget and engi[neer] with sniper/launchers on Firestorm getting constantly resupplied. It just creates these ridiculously broken combinations," wrote Battlefield YouTuber GhostGaming.”

uh this sucks *Butt Head voice*

It’ll be out on everything October 10: Steam/ PC, PS5, and Xbox (whatever they call the newest Xbox).

I haven’t had time to Game. I got a bet going with the kids if they don’t use tec (TV, Xbox, Internet) for a year. So we just been doing other things. We built a pump gun last night 😉

I hear the game is great and they are taking the cheaters seriously something today is all BF needs to be successful. Good competitive game play and ban the cheaters. They even figured out how to catch people with Zen boxes.

It looks incredible especially with the right setup. I do want to eventually play it. But I just don’t have time to get into it. My gaming PC it’s been collecting dust.

I didn’t bother getting it. From everything I’m seeing — it’s the same old BS with EA. And this whole ad campaign was a huge bait n switch.

I just know I would lose interest quickly given the lack of big maps.
