Our youngest has been an Xbox user and subscriber for a while now and is watching this, thinking he might jump ship.

THIS is what I'm hoping for... I have zero interest in any of this gear for myself ('cept maybe the headset) but I very much hope it will attract the console crowd and gateway them into a much friendlier gaming ecosystem.

I've been an Xbox subscriber since the original Xbox came out nearly 25 years ago and I'm considering jumping ship. They're now charging $80 per year just to play online and their exclusives are now nonexistent. Since the Xbox One released and killed any goodwill they had from the previous generations, it's almost like Microsoft has been trying to fail.

I like having dedicated machines, and i like being multi-platform. If I can fit a gabecube next to my PS5, i'll do it.

I built a gaming PC, but it probably can't play most AAA titles, and it's set up in our office that is not the most cozy space in the house. Also, building it was more of a mid-life crisis project; i use it probably1-2 times a month.

Ironically, I have a rather robust steam library (lots of Humble Bundle deals my buddy keeps sending me), most of which would play ok on a Deck. But since i don't need the portability, the Machine would fit that niche very well (price not-withstanding).

I really don't think it's competing with consoles in the way people think.

It's mainly targeted at PC gamers who want to move their steam library to the couch. It's not designed to bring console players over, because it'll be $750+.

Personally, I think it's great. If I still had time to game, I'd buy one, and probably the frame too. But I'm not at all a console player, ever.
