DDR Ram chip manufacturers are pivoting to AI platforms as it's more profitable. As a result, there's a shortage, so we're back to covid + levels of price gouging. -
I built myself a gaming rig last year and got 32gb of DDR5 CL36 6000mhz for like $90. That was back when DDR4 was cheaper than DDR5!Comment

My RAM failed on me the week Borderlands 4 released, so I had to buy a 32 gb for like 90$ and I vividly remember saying at least it wasn't my GPU, I would hate if I had to drop 400-500$Comment

I don't know what you mean. I paid $34 for 8 GB DDR4 a month ago ha. The benefits of needing a PC purely for 10+ year old games.Comment

There's so little benefit of DDR5 over DD4 for gaming that I'd happily buy DDR4 if I was building anything right now. New or used... RAM is RAM, and it's easy to stress test.Comment

Truly. AM4 support has been a real blessing. (I upgraded from a 3600 to a 5700 x3D about a year ago.)
I’m also happy to play through my old backlog. Anytime I think I’m ready to build a new AM5 / DDR5 / Nvidia 50xx rig —some BS like this pops up. And I’m reminded quickly that poorly optimized UE5 games, are hardly worth these ridiculous prices and negligible performance gains.
It also helps that I haven’t been gaming much this past year to warrant a new $3500-4000 gaming rig.Comment
