I would rather put the diy effort towards the scenery. A lot of these high end trackbuilders like http://slotmods.com use Policar or Ninco track and then build around it. I like that approach. I think for me building the racetrack and the scenery will be a hobby unto itself. I am really inspired by these builds:

This guy did a Monaco inspired track, and even did the famous descending “hairpin” turn

I love the lane change right before the hairpin. That’s likely the key point on that track.

SignOfZeta A few vendors sell the whole Monaco circuit but it’s huge. I dont have the space for that, you need an area that’s 20ft^2 or 25+ if you want to move 360* around it.

Yeah. I can’t imagine building a permanent 1/32 scale city. I have the space for it, I just don’t want to dust it. I’ve had hobbies before…dust is a huge thing.

Mini4WD is also (broadly) 1/32 but it’s extremely rare to decorate them or have a permanent setup. My local group is basically a half dozen guys who all own 400+ meters of track each. We set it all up and tear it all down for each race. It’s a huge job but not for a half dozen people.

Has to be some kind of record for a slot car auction sale.

woah, for an HO car too, that is pretty wild. Then again look at what other markets are doing, people will spend anything as long as its rare and unique. Look at paintball, trading cards, memorabilia, etc. Prices are hitting all time highs

That Cobra is an absolute beauty though. Both the real one and the HO slot car / model
