I have always enjoyed BATTLETECH

I play Battletech in the original 3025 setting. I have played since about 1983 when 2nd edition came out. I played all the way up through the Clan Invasion but stopped aft ther when Battletech started going off the rails. Now I just play 3025 because it is simple and fun.

I picked up the "Beginner box" 2 weeks ago, played a rough beginner game with my wife, and then bought the "A game of armored combat" box. Seems fun, and I play other TT games as well so it wasn't a big jump. I have painted up a Griffin and Wolverine so far, and am now working my way though the other mech's I have.

I lost all of my metal figs, and I just use paper now. I like to keep the game simple. Start using the optional rules and it gets very cool, very complex, and (unfortunately) very slow.
I normally lean towards the Crab, Scorpion, and Locust. Crabs never run out of ammo, Scorpions (almost) never fall down, and Locusts are hard to hit (as long as you keep moving).

On a side note, my wife is from Melvindale, I'm from Midland (and Grand Rapids).

I miss Battletech. My buddy and I keep talking about doing a simple battle. He’s hung up on building mechs though, and that will triple the time it takes to set up. I’d rather was back in with a prefab one on one, that’ll be enough effort.

Look up MegaMek. It's a nice implementation of Battletech on a computer. Allows for faster setup and play.

Flgs is opening a new shop, and they are planning on having an inagural battletech tourney. I have a few lances painted up but am not very good at the game.

I've never played but I loved MechWarrior, I have many memories of my dad and I playing late into the night when I was really young. I recently found some 3d printed resin miniatures in the Battletech Scale on Etsy. Should be fun to paint up.

I play the Battletech computer game it's a pretty damn good, I've tried the tabletop games but they are just way too rule heavy and I don't have the patience for painting miniatures etc

Back from the dead. I run a 3045ish campaign for my son and some friends. I have some of the rule books but the compendium is all that is really required. We make up some rules as needed. Have been playing since 1990. This pic is mostly plastic but there are some pewter ones as well. I have about 30 other pewter ones at a friends house in San Antonio. Far to fragile to ship every time my family and I move.

I've started painting miniatures again (for different games, *not* GW ones though) and down the pipeline I want to tackle some BT. I'm interested in the Alpha Strike rules, as I never quite really liked the 'classic' BT rules. My favorite FASA BT ruleset was Battleforce 2, which was the genesis for the AS rules.

You have to hand it to Catalyst Games: they've marketed the game brilliantly to appeal to a much wider audience while building upon the rich BT lore of the past 35+ years. The simplicity of the AS rules, coupled with the MUCH nicer 're-imagined' designs, and the general affordability of the game ($30 for 4 plastic mechs?) have made it much more popular.
