    MTG Jump Start: Historic Horizons

    So...
    If you haven't played Magic in awhile, you can start playing the digital version called Arena.
    It's basically free to play and if you are patient, you won't need to pay anything to get a competitive deck.
    The Arena version of Historic dropped Jump Start yesterday and it is a 700 card digital set.
    I can't say what this will do to table-top, kitchen-table IRL paper magic, but the digital version sure is fun...

    Maybe this is a good option for my son to keep playing with his friends back in VT.

      yes, i'm pretty sure you can direct challenge another player. also, there are several different "formats" you can play.
      almost all the digital cards are from the last 5 years or so. However, WOTC is slowly importing older cards.
      i just "conjured" a Tropical Island to my hand in the last jumpstart game. the last time tropical island was "printed" was 1994...
