Hero Quest - This Year’s Xmas Game

Usually buy a game to play with the kids over Christmas. This year they had a good sale on Hero Quest, which I remember playing when it first game out. It’s a big jump from our previous games but the kids are older and like adventure/strategy style games. Opened up the box today and started reading instructions. Looking forward to a test run tonight!

Great game. Played when I was younger. Still have my original and a second I picked up in college.

I made a 5th hero, an Orc. The one with the big sword, spray painted it red, but it was darker than the other heroes. Only special ability it had was that it rolled an extra attack die against Orcs and Goblins.

Good news is that's the newer version which means the pieces fit on the map squares!

Been eyeballing some of the expansions but need to see how they handle the base game.

I saw hero quest: first light at Target while shopping with my wife. It was on sale, and I reacted pretty positively to the sight of it. Im willing to bet its under my Xmas tree as I type this. There are expansions for it? I need to make some friends so I can play this on a random Friday night.

I was at the gaming store this weekend looking for something we can play that my granddaughter (5 almost 6) could play with us. Settled on Castle Panic because it is a co-op game where players work against the game.

Mole Rats in Space is an awesome coop game. Think snakes and ladders but the snakes move, you're in a space station and are a naked mole rat. Sequence for Kids is a great intro to strategy games. Fun animals, easy game play.

Played our test round last night and was successful. I was caught off guard and unprepared to be a good DM. More prep to start the game next time! As we were just doing a test run I was aggressive and killed off two of the heroes but ended up losing, but it was close. The kids enjoyed it and are looking forward to playing more. There are 14 quests in the main game so they were planning out how long that would take to play through.
