    How to cut gaskets?

I am restoring an old JD Wallace radial arm saw. The gearbox for the motor is leaking oil, and here are the two gaskets. I am not sure if they both leaked or just the torn up paper one. The larger one feels like metal. How do I find a suitable material and cut a new gasket?
    Thanks!

That one looks like brass. You may be able to polish it up and clean the other surfaces and get it to re seal.

I also have some of these at work, measure this one for me. If I have one that'll work ill send it your way.

For the other gasket im not sure. Gasket material.and a xacto knife?

Automotive gadget paper. Hold it up to the sealing surface if it has a nice sharp corner you can tap lightly around it with a hammer and it will cut itself out if you have a ball pen hammer you can do the bolt hole to

Yup this works, just be sure you don't damage the sealing surface when you do it.

Trace and cut out with a razor blade (X-acto knife). Scissors will work for the larger cuts but I tend to just use a razor. For the bolt holes you can cut them out as well but I prefer to use gasket punches [or hollow hole punches] they are pretty cheap and they make a nice neat hole with clean edges. I've had mine for decades bought them at a auto parts store, suspect they may not be a shelf item anymore since not a lot of people make their own gaskets anymore. So just search on line or go to harbor freight. That is most likely paper gasket material or Fish paper and you buy either by the sheet or roll pretty cheaply.

The metal seal just clean it up and inspect it for nicks and dents. If smooth and not deformed then just use it again. If it has scratches just hit it with some 00 wool to polish it up again.
