    Good Car Weekend

Surprisingly, had a great car related weekend. I have a love/hate relationship with car shows. Always think I should go to them, because that’s what you do with old cars. But usually end up bored out of my mind and want to leave. This time the car show was at a large local
community fair. Vender is, live music etc. a community group I’m involved in was also at the event, so I could kill two birds with one stone and entered my car.

Much like working on paintball, getting the car ready is a zen-like experience I enjoy. I don’t go full OCD on cleaning, but fun making the old girl shine. I think it’s the part that I like the best of car shows.

This year at the show there was a surprising amount of Mopar guys. Over 8 total, all very different. Another young car owner had a Dart was very friendly and we hit it off, and went to go talk to the other Mopar guys. Ended up convincing most of them to be in a row for the fair. We had a 70s Dart, an amazing Roadrunner with factory 426 Hemi, 70 Challenger and a 74 Charger.

At the awards at the end of the show got chatting with the Dart owner and another similar she’d guy with a nice Mustang. We’re all local and so we shared each other’s info for meeting up for an occasional cruise, which is awesome.

Then today, driving around doing errands and catch what looks like the backend of a Barracuda well ahead in traffic. After waiting for a very long turn light to finish I headed in the same direction but figured I’d lost him. Couldn’t see him, so heading home only to run into him coming out of a parking lot down a different road. Waived and pulled into a parking lot and he joined me. It was an awesome ‘69 Notchback with the slant 6 that was all original. He just got the car a couple weeks ago and was a local guy as well. Exchanged number and will give him a heads up when we go for a cruise.

I’ve had the Barracuda since the early 2000s and have yet to have any of this happen and then in a single weekend happens twice.

Nice! I haven't hit the local cruise nights in years, it was always the same stuff every time and I can only look at Novas and Chevelles so many times.

I'm not a "car guy" so much anymore, doing it for my 8-5 for 20 years has pretty much sucked all the enjoyment out of it, but I'm still a sucker for mid/late '60s Barracudas. I'm a bit jealous! 🙂
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Sounds like a great weekend. Just put in a new battery and changed the fluids last weekend in my Plymouth. Getting it ready for some summer events at the drag strip and cruise nights with my son before he heads off to college in the fall.
